Thanks Guys,
I have looked around for some callipers. ZX14 and ZX6R callipers seem to be around $300-$350 for a pair and the CBR1000 callipers around $250. I'll definately pick up a pair shortly and do the conversion. Just have to wait until after my holidays. I took the bike out for a ride today.....I don't think I have smiled soo hard in my life. What a bike!!! :kuda: Blink and your at 200kph. Have to get used to the riding position but other than that I am glad I chose a ZX10R to step up to.

The 2006 model.........Is it's nick name the "Gumby"??

i wouldnt know how good or bad the stock system is
but on my zx10r it has a brembo MC, soft compound brake pads and braided lines and it pulles up pretty good.
its got me out of some sticky situations...
thats my 2 cents..

+2 : '07 CBR calipers, SBS pads, braided lines, and because I'm a tosser, an AP adjustable ratio m/c. To use a technical term, it's a shitload better than it ever was with the OEM rubbish.

Unfortunately I still ride like a complete homo and get passed under brakes by slowing supertankers full of oil, but at least it's removed one potential source of my head being done in ...

Cheers,
Brian

Hi mate, I'll give you my two cents worth just incase you are not convinced or need some more info.
My 05 had brake fade real bad.
My first uprgrade was the brake lines. Double banjo etc.
Still same but not as bad. It took more heat to bring the problem to the surfcae and I noticed myself trailing the front all the way to the apex and easing it off just as the throttle was appied.
I think someone on the forum put me onto this Canadian site where you could buy the Brembo radial master cyl and resoviour for $430 AUD.
I picked one up and fitted it. No problems, I still get a little fade but adjust the span adjuster just a little further out to compensate for it and it is %100 better.
I think I will put some bitier pads in to make her stop faster and this will hopefully stop me from laying on the brakes so hard as it will be a matter of brake hard for a shorter period of time and them on the gas.

other than that, it works well.

If you want the site, let me know and I will try to find it.

Careful with "bitier" pads i chewed through a set of OEM rotors in approx 5 trackdays from some over aggressive pads.... i still don't think its the master cylinder thats the problem its the calipers... i never changed my MC and mine are faultless.

Hi Guys :kuda:, I have an '04 ZX10R that I took on a track day and I was getting some scary brake fade within 2 - 3 laps at Qld Raceway  .

I'd like to replace the calipers on my bike. You guys say the '07 CBR1000 and the '08 ZX14 calipers will fit the '06 ZX10R model, but do these calipers fit on the '04 ZX10R? Do any other year model calipers fit dontknow.gif ? and finally, does anyone have any feedback which of the two options (CBR1000 or the ZX14 calipers) is the better option?

yep they still fit.

07-10 zx6r calipers are the same as the 14's. They are easily the better option.

In saying that i am sure Madkaw will provide some feedback on the CBR calipers as he gave them a fair workout at the last race meet.

I think Nissin are the dogs balls.

But in saying that i had zero brake fade on my 06 ZX10r on the weekend thats to a set of EBC Extreme Pro brakepads. my calipers are stock.

Unbelieveable brake pads, stopped ona dime, got numerous comments on how awesome i was on the brakes into turn 2 at EC in the FX1000 class. 8)

I think quite the opposite mate, when i ruffed them up on the ground in my garage, they seem quite soft.

Discs are looking quite fine after the weekends racing.

Have got a Brembo MC and zx14 calipers on my crim. It stops rather well with this setup. It's actually a little touchy for the street when the tyres are cold but is awesome on the track. It is my understanding that the CBR callipers are the same thing but need the spacers to mount properly. All zx14 calipers are the same, as are the latest zx6r ones.

Thanks for the feedback guys :D, I think I'll be chasing a set of Nissin off a ZX6 or ZX14. Yesterday I got a price from a WA wrecker that wants $360 for a set, one of the callipers has some minor scratches on it (see pic below). Does that sound like a reasonable price?
