I get my slicks for close to $500 a pair, that is a soft F & med R.

I still can't work this out. If your slicks are $500 a pair, and my road tyres are less than $450 a pair, how can slicks be cheaper than road tyres ????? They are more expensive - the slicks I had fitted at EC last year for the Xmas track day were actually $530 fitted !!! That is over $80 a pair more expensive than my road tyres......

If I could buy slicks for $400 a pair, that would be great !!

If you are getting the Bridg's, the 003 are a better option than the 016 for the track..... I'm a bridgy fan and always have been. My trackie had Dunlop slicks on it when I bought it.......... I used them for a couple of track days but didn't have confidence in them as mentioned above due to limited heat cycles....... I replaced them with Bridg's 003, and I am totally impressed...

and when you get a few extra dollars, contact Pete Kaneg and get some tyre warmers, they work on the treads as well.

im still trying to figure out my logic that i couldnt afford to buy tyre warmers
but somehow i could afford to buy a zx9r

makes complete sense to me.

True regarding the times.

Tyre opinions are as infinite and variable as the galaxies in the universe - I've heard a lot of bad things about the Pirelli slicks but me personally I love them and I've gone faster on them than the dunlop and bridgestone slicks I've tried. Find something you like and stick to it - after sampling a few different tyres.

I don't get the argument that states 'I've done 39's on treaded tyre x and so they're good for that'. Yes, but stickier tyres increase your safety margin at those times for mortal riders. For me, I'd rather have something in reserve rather than running on the ragged edge of the performance envelope of a tyre because I'm simply not that skilful.
