I still can't work this out. If your slicks are $500 a pair, and my road tyres are less than $450 a pair, how can slicks be cheaper than road tyres ????? They are more expensive - the slicks I had fitted at EC last year for the Xmas track day were actually $530 fitted !!! That is over $80 a pair more expensive than my road tyres......s man wrote:Yep sure is.Gosling1 wrote:Steve - the last set of slicks I bought were >$500, but a pair of road tyres (2CT rear and Pilot Power front) were less than $450 the pair.....I always heard that slicks were meant to be way cheaper than road tyres, but is this actually the case anymore for new slicks ??
I get my slicks for close to $500 a pair, that is a soft F & med R.
If you are getting the Bridg's, the 003 are a better option than the 016 for the track..... I'm a bridgy fan and always have been. My trackie had Dunlop slicks on it when I bought it.......... I used them for a couple of track days but didn't have confidence in them as mentioned above due to limited heat cycles....... I replaced them with Bridg's 003, and I am totally impressed...98ninja wrote:ok, im gonna lean towards some treads for now.
bt016s? Pilot powers? diablo corsas?
any preffered treaded tyre for the track?
wattie does low 1:40s at eastern creek on treads doesnt he?
True regarding the times.Nelso wrote:Pirelli slicks are apparently shit anyway from what I hear but I have only tried Dunlop and Bridgestones myself. To be honest, the times you are doing you don't need them and with no warmers would be better off with normal road tyres.
