I'm holding off on the kerker and booked her in for a dyno tune next wednesday down at mornington. The headers have been ceramic coated inside and out,and with the bulldogged muffler she sounds pretty good.

I need to stop reading this forum....
I heard voices telling me to start the grinder.....
I cut mine down also.
They told me size is not important....
But now its louder than Marty getting his back waxed...
Pick up the Factory Pro kit on Saturday.

It probably always popped, you just could not hear it. The best indicator of fuel mixture is the colour of the spark plugs. White and pitted insulator=lean, Black=rich and a nice Jim Beam brown=all is good. A lean condition will also cause overheating and burned valves. Jim Beam makes the world purple.

Scotty once you get used to the look of the cut down you can never go back,I ran mine without the steele wool for a while because I couldn't get it back in . However I pulled the muffler apart again wrapped the steele wool around the baffle then wrapped that up with masking tape, this allowed me to slid the whole lot down into the insulation and reassemble the muffler, then the tape burned away. I got to say she sounds sweet.

Na its the camera angle Steve.
Its the same angle & height as the standard number.
Its my Remus can cut down, its got the steell wool & the other stuff in it.
I went for a key in brain out spin in the city last night with a guy from work & it sounded pretty good in the concrete jungle...
Yeah it wont be running lean for long oldman.
The goods are here to solve the prob but I have to work in the morning so I dont think I will have time to pick them up.
Wont be long though.

Got the dyno done today at mornington kwaka and she wasn't bad , the mixtures were pretty close and I didn't need jets, she got 110 H.P. which is more than I can use.

Yeah Scotty I now know she's running the way she's made to,it feels very strong through the gears, money well spent.

Hi Mate,
I can definately recommend MIck HOne and his Factory Pro jet kit if you want to go that way. My 2008 ZRX1200 has their " 1.1 kit with titanium needles, 38 pilot, needles middle clip (3rd from top), 100/102 mains, STANDARD air filter and standard length yoshi bolt on, you might want next size up mains as the K&N will flow more air up top. Mine pulls hard to 250k, is smooth everywhere else, still as good on fuel as standard or maybe better cruising but WILL use more if using the extra horses. Its a similar setup to what MCN did with theirs last year. To give you a comparison, my mate has identical bike but he is 20 kilos lighter than me, he could pull away noticeably in any gear when both stock, now mine is level with him up to 6 grand and then mine easily pulls away from his now. Yours will be VERY lean with K&N & the Yosh fitted, I would suggest dangeroursly lean, you need to take the plunge and re-jet (your Kwaka dealer or any good workshop can do it), dynoing it wont do anything other than prove how lean it is, so long as they check af ratio that is!
Hope you dont mind me sticking my nose in, i have been a mechanic for 30 plus years and i just hate people getting burned or wasting their time and money and not at least being armed with the knowledge up front. If your in Melbourne there are lots of good workshops, I have dealt with Mick HOne (a long time ago) and recently Phil Tainton (excellent bloke) or up in Sydney - MIck Dyer Motorcyles at Penrith is VERY knowledgeable but is old school and does not need/want a dyno.
hope this helps,
A.E.
