They're the German ones that are fitted to the comfort kits. Better give Tape a heads up as that's whats on the Crim. I don't think you can go wrong with Renthals or Pro Tapers though. In years of Mxing Chris has had some huge offs and not once snapped a bar like that, that's ridiculous.

I haven't contacted them yet to see what they say but will be in the next day or two.
That's the second pair of ABM bars that i have seen snapped in two so my advice would be to steer well clear of ABM bars
As for getting in touch with Stu from AUSFR i would get in quick, from what i hear on the grape vine he is shutting shop very soon.
BTW good luck with it he can also be a real prick about any sort of warranty claims

cheers Rob - I will be taking those bars off the list !!

what strikes me as odd, is that these are German bars, which means that they should have gone through the TuV testing and approval process......this is *the* most stringent testing and approval process in the world from all accounts, any aftermarket accessories sold in the fatherland have to meet TuV standards, and they are notoriously difficult to meet - at least that's how I understand it. Maybe things have changed since the wall came down ?? :?

Neighbour was over there about a year ago and said that the TuV testing is still as thorough as ever, and if they are german bars, shit, that's a helluva surprise. perhaps made there to be sold elsewhere?

And that is why I didn't go with AUSFR but instead went to the UK who were not only cheaper but supplied Renthal bars which I bent when I dropped the bike at Oran I could have straightened them but for about $80 I got another set of Renthal bars.

That is definitely a dangerous thing to be snapping bars on a bike. Kudos for not crashing the bike.

Hey guys - this problem was just brought to my attention. This is definitely NOT the norm for any of our products - we pride outselves in selling high quality items - and so I would not have any issue replacing or refunding the customer for something like this. For the record - I have not heard about this happening once in the 5 yrs I've been dealing with ABM products.

Nelso - you have not been in touch yet about this mate?

Oldmate - if you are aware of another event like this I would be very interested to hear it so I can pass the info on to ABM, & I'm not a prick with warranty claims - I just like to make sure I'm not getting the wool pulled over my eyes by scammers.

Cheers guy. Ride safe & stay upright.

Sorry, no not yet. Unfortunately I've had a bit much on with property settlements and court cases and such so I haven't got around to it yet. I will try to call soon.

Update: I called AUSFR and Stu has been great to deal with. He told me he has contacted ABM to inform them of the problem and has offered me a full refund or a replacement set of bars despite me buying them nearly 12 months ago. It is very refreshing to experience the level of after sales support that I received when I called and also good to see a company willing to back their product. Maybe I just got a dud set, (after all, the Z1000 had a pair of these exact bars on it when I wrapped it around the 4WD and it tumbled down the road, and they bent but didn't break) but it's good to see the manufacturer and distributor concerned about the quality of their product and willing to do something about it.

That's a pretty good result Nelso - congrats to AUSFR for standing by their products.

Long overdue update. After discussing the issue with them I did end up sending a couple of messages through asking for things to the value of the bars but it got no response so I gave up chasing it up. As it stands now I still have received nothing from them which is a shame as I would have likely got a top yoke off them for Nemo and some riser clip-ons for Leanne's 10, but will probably order over the net from the UK now instead.
