I have just replaced front disc's with a set of spiegler disc's from the states so it ca'nt be a warped disc, in fact the new disc'c have ecsentuated the problem which is leading me to believe the problem is internal. It would be a coincidence to have two sets of warped disc's. This exersise has cost me a lot in time and money believe me. i'll give having the forks a revalve and respring and let you all know the outcome.

It may not be the discs that are warped, throw a dial gauge on the discs the result may be a fault in the machining of the wheel, causing the discs not to run true.

G'Day Chad,
If only life was as simple as changing a front tyre we would all have perfect bikes. I put a brand new set of metzelers on and guess what still shudders, i had frank pons strip forks and put back together with new oil, still shudders. I completely stripped both calipers cleaned and reinstalled, bought another set of discs which we have since proved are faulty. The only other thing i have done is remove the shim in between the wheel and the disc and put the origonal discs back on and it has improved dramaticaly. It now only shudders at speeds above 120 kph. So i'm still searching for it to perfect but not there yet. If only the front tyre change worked it could have saved me about $2500 .
Thanks anyway chad.

Hey Stuart,
It's just a thought, but have you checked to see if the rim is running true, and not slightly warped? I have read your post from top to bottom, and thnk you have covered the obvious causes of the shudder. Just be interested to see if the rim is true.
Sounds like a shit fight, and is so annoying when your at your wits end. Be interested to see how you go. Best of luck,
Weldo.

I just returned from a long ride yesterday on my Z1000 and had a very bad headwind. At 130 KPH I had a very bad shudder and found the cause was me having a tight hold on the bars and leaning back to far causing light loading on the front end. As soon as I leaned forward and released my death grip on the bars the shudder stopped. Just a thought.
