I had a whole post typed out and when I loaded it, my connection dropped out....lost the lot!!

Anyway, to sum it up.......................buy whatever the fuck you want it won't matter what we say!

But for thoughts on the ones I have ridden...

ZX10R- Fuck, they don;t call them a crim for no reason! They are a wheelstanding, tyre spinning monster which requires a gentle throttle hand and a fair portion of physical exertion to extract the best from it. Grab it by the scruff of the neck and thrash it and it will make you giggle. That's not to say that they don't handle and with a light throttle hand and short shifting, it's a sweet steering, light and well balanced bike with great brakes unless you are racing.

R1- Smooth, powerful, if a little top heavy and peaky. Certainly a great wheelstand bike, but apart from that it never excited me. A little sanitised compared to the early and very late incarnations.

CBR1000- I was really dissapointed by the CBR1000 when I rode it. My 2000 model 9 did a series of rollons with one and apart from initial pick from first dropping the flag, the 9 took over the lead at about 120 and left the fucking thing behind. Rediculously slow i thought. I actually think the 954 is a much better bike than the early CBR1000's. Also, very uninspiring to ride. Yeah sure, it's fast...ish and it handles OK....ish and it is comfortable.....ish and brakes OK...ish. But it's fucking really boring to ride I hate to say.

675- I havn't ridden one, but a guy in our club has one. It seems nice if a little underpowered. But, he's had it go home on a trailer twice. Not sure what broke....not all that interested either  If you buy a Euro, regardless of which one, expect problems, higher maintanance costs and buy a recovery vehicle

But, I still reckon for the money, you should be looking at a ZRX1200R! I have an S and it's FUGLY. But the R is the same wickedly decieving bike the S is, just pretty too!!

Mate, since you're slightly rotund like me, you may find the blade & triumph a tad small ;)

update:
so far.. i rode a crim and a CBR today...

crim: couldnt get the smile off my face!! i had an evil laugh and wanted to race off into the distance..i REALLY like this bike
CBR: did everything i wanted it to do , no fuss, no big deal..very very "Honda"..

the smart choice for an everyday bike is the CBR .. but since when do we do the smart thing?..
next: to ride an R1.. looks like the trumpy is outta the picture for the moment...

When you ride the R1 would be interested to know what you think of the engine...I went for a ride with a mate today who just picked up his new FZ1(same motor sorta as an R1) yesterday....The bike was only 100+ Km's old and was REALLY noisy I thought a few of mine were noisy one of them had a farked CCT aswell but this thing was deafening the tick it had.Would be interesting to see if it is a Yamaha thing :?
