Ahhhhhhh the Fadzs mates at the slab incident. Rounded the corner to see 2 bikes on a tow truck and the cops had just left.

Don't like your chances of resisting. Hitting 200 on a 10 (a 600 for that matter) will take about as much effort as hitting 70 on a 250.

Llist all of the dealers from the Yellow pages.
Plan a big ring around sydney and take one whole saturday to go to all of them.
Last test ride will probably be around 3pm.

I was thinking of a 9 or a 10 too and was steered away from it, and I'm glad I was!!!
What IS your reason for a 10? If you want to make a drag bike in the future surely a write off or an older model would be the way to go!!!!!
People are saying this stuff because we care man! 8)
But look at King Nick!

Yeah the 06-07 10R looks very nice and if you want this bike no one is going to stop you. The best thing is to take time to get used to it. A 10 can go just as slow as a 6 if you want it to, you just need to control your wrist.
I dont like the mentality of 'you only live once', becuase most of the time your actions are most certainly going to shorten your life, just be smart and take your time with the 10. :D

Yep, it doesn't take much. My Hornet is not cutting-edge technology, nor is it a hard-core sportsbike, but it can go from rest to highly illegal in a few blinks...still sounds like a sewing machine while it does it though, fook I hate the stock cans.

Well I care, but I'm old and you're not much older than my eldest (he's 18 in August). Pardon my ignorance but wouldn't a better drag bike be a 12R, 14R or a Busa? I thought more cubes = better times :).

Thanks guys the advice is really handy,

not really keen on any other bike besides kawasaki's espically no suzuki's, that bike has always stood out to me and i cant find any other bike that comes close to the zx10r (06/07)

also i tired looking for writen off bikes and hardly any cheap zx10's

i really appricate that you guys are trying to set an example but i don't want to come off the bike and i plan to take it easy, it took me a few months before i even got to a windy road on the 250 so im not in a rush to flog the living daylights out of the 1000, i guess its just personal preference.

i shall try some dealerships and see how it goes, im taking my time so i can find a nice clean bike.

but as i said before thanks alot guys you have helped me out alot.

cheers!

I had a few runs along the grass. Ill admit that part! As for crashing there's been a couple of spills at low speed. The bike has never hit the deck at any sort of pace. Am looking at moving the 10 on but probably wont be able to sell her around here

If you want to build a drag bike, go and see the boys at extreme creations. Ben and Pete will give you advice or build you one out of a 10R if thats what you want.

Pete, who Iv'e known for a long time removed his Hayabusa engine and stuck it in a GSXR 750 frame. made a lot of improvements to his lock up clutch that kept crapping out due to design faults and modified where the Charge air cooler lives.

His bike puts out 305HP on the dyno with 8lbs boost, nopt bad eh!!

Hey guys just to be clear on the insurance,
the only thing thats on my mind is theft and 3rd party, that way if i hit anything im covered and ill sleep at night easier if it gets stolen.

i got quoted for $4500 for full comp and at that rate i would of paid the bike of in 2 and half years, hell if i stack it then ill just pay for the damages.

at first i just want it to be a roadie and take it to WSID here and there i had a ball taking the 250 but i just want a lil bit of a quicker time, im just taking it nice and slowly ive seen what these bikes can do and they are extremely quick!

Matbe buying a 600 then for your first real sportsbike is a better idea. I mean, your only 20!
If you have never ridden a 600, then maybe you should go and test ride a few at some dealers to get an idea of what they're like, you would be surprised.

You could buy the 1000 but I've seen first hand people being intimidated by these 1ltr bikes and selling them as they just cant get their head around riding properly first with all of the power.

Something to think about!

Good luck finding the right bike at the right price, fadz!

In general, I think it's better for your riding skills to spend time on something less than a thou (i.e. a 600/750), between the 250 and the 1000, but that's a pretty broad generalisation and doesn't apply to everyone. Yeah, a lot of fuckwits jump from 250s to 1000s and either crash, get scared or provide overtaking opportunities for the little 6s ;) but that's not the only option - there's plenty of people who can handle the jump up. After all - it comes down to what you do with your wrist and how you ride in relation to your ability / limits.
