When cold it sounds particularly noisey/rattly and as the oil gets to the top of the engine and warms it settles down.. but no matter how warm I can still hear a slight noise. Is this sounding pretty normal? It was something I was going to ask at the first service but perhaps a heads up first from you guys to clear the issue?
I'm hearing identical symptoms. But as its both my first Kawasaki & ZX6R I'm in no position to advise on the health, or otherwise that indicates. I do find the concept of only inspecting the valve clearance every 42000 km, as per the manual, a big ask of faith. I reckon I'll be checking valve clearances at ~10,000k.
Earlier this year I had to replace an Aisin-Warner gearbox that had been serviced as per the factory manual. Only 100,000km & it was completely shot. $6k for a rebuilt exchange! So I figure checking clearances early will be cheap insurance. And it'll be a lot easier than when I had an 851.
