Uneven tyre wear like this usually indicates that the tyre/rim combination is not round and the wear gradually changes around the circumference of the tyre. This is easily checked by setting up a guage of some sort against the tyre (with the bike on a stand) and slowly rotate the wheel. Another cause can be uneven rubber thickness but as the TWIs are moulded in the tyre they are the same distance from the outside of the new tread.

Damage such as a lockup will usually start a small area and then increase.

My front tyre wore out the right side..Made for interesting cornering..

Rim was fine just the tickness of tread depth that differed.

Not my bike and it was years ago now so I doubt it will arise again anytime soon.

Blur - that just looks like it was a seriously out-of-round tyre right from the word go !

Was that an old GPz 750 or something ?? Pretty skinny rear, but I don't recognise the footpeg pattern....??

of course once it starts to wear unevenly, its get unbalanced and gets worse...

The original posters pic does look like uneven wear! It can easily be fixed, by using the other parts of the tyre occasionally!!!

Did it make for bar weage when hard on the picks too? i had that happen on a BT45 i had on my old gpx750 years ago. I just made sure i gave plenty of time to stop until i was able to get a new pair of hoops the next day.

As to rooted tyres, i've got a picture somewhere of the rear i had on my old en450. I used that thing far too much for commuting and ended up finding it down to the belt while at the bottom of Kangaroo Valley. I ended up coming home along the breakdown lane pretty much the entire way as it looked like it would barely make the trip home. It made it home, and to the shop the next day, just. Now where the hell is that picture though.....

Don't take it badly mate. If people take this piss out of you in here, it just means they like ya!!!! For all we know, you may not live right at the foothills of some great twisty mountain roads. You may live at fucking broken hill and have 300klms of straight roads just to get to the corner store for all we know??
But, the tyre is just worn out. Not irregularly, just worn passed what some might consider replacement time.

All good peoples. Thanks for the advice. Still like the tyres so will be getting another set. They will be serving the purpose for the road and the creek so I will see how they fair at the track...cheers!
