this is a sad video.. it is always hard to turn up to a MVA where there is kids involved.. im a local S.E.S member and lvl 3 paramedic in the QAS.. i have attended a few major mva's in my time but it is so much harder to attend one with sumone you no involved.. late one afternoon in 2008 i had the call to a multi car mva out on the Capricorn highway 20kms north of Clermont, a B double had drifted across the road and hit a car head on, after working tirelessly for 2 hrs to free this young lady from her car i reliased that i knew her, we had went to school together from year 1 thru to year 10 we used to be best of mates, but had not seen each other in ova 5 years, so i was able to distract her enough for the fires to totaly cut her free from the wreakage..Ratmick wrote:The SES guys and girls here pull people out of cars all the time in winter.
One of my mates from St Johns pulled one of his mates out of a bad one. I guess one of the problems with being a volunteer in your local area is that now and again you are going to come across someone you know.

And shame on you for not thinking it a worthwhile cause to push. It's not my cause, ya little ray of sunshine, it's everyone's damned cause. It's a reminder to all of us to give our kids a hug tonight, it's a reminder to all of us to slow down and be a little more careful when the conditions turn to shit, and yes, it's a reminder that coppers are human and the road toll has an effect on everyone.mithel wrote:Shame on the person who thinks it necessary to share this sadness to push his own cause.
I gave old mate the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was criticising the news editor who thought sticking a camera in the copper's face was a good plan ....... I hope my assumption was correctaardvark wrote:And shame on you for not thinking it a worthwhile cause to push. It's not my cause, ya little ray of sunshine, it's everyone's damned cause. Get with the program.
The subject matter and video told there own story regarding our abuse of the road and the consequences, and yes, it is an horrific situation to be placed in. I question the need for the additional comment.aardvark wrote:And shame on you for not thinking it a worthwhile cause to push. I read that as a comment on the obvious affect the incident had on the officer which can be interpreted (by me anyway) as showing his concern when issuing traffic fines is preventing the loss of life & associated trauma rather than revenue raising.mithel wrote:

"For those of you who think coppers are only out to raise revenue for the government, I implore you to watch this video and tell me that this man doesn't give a fuck about the road toll:"
Looking at his response I think notdave#3 wrote:I gave old mate the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was criticising the news editor who thought sticking a camera in the copper's face was a good plan ....... I hope my assumption was correct
You know Mick, sometimes even when you give people an 'out' they still need to prove they're arsehats. Whatever.Ratmick wrote:Looking at his response I think notdave#3 wrote:I gave old mate the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was criticising the news editor who thought sticking a camera in the copper's face was a good plan .......
