This is my problem on both my bikes.
If I start adjusting the rebound damping, how do I know I have not gone too far?
Example: I increase the rebound damping on the rear in increments. When do I know I have gone too far? What will the symptom feel like?
Example2: I feel I have the rear about right, I increase the front in increments, how do I know I have gone too far?[/quote]

Yeah alright, too much rebound will feel harsh that's all I can say and I recommend reading the symptoms section, and I really don't know, so stop asking me ok. All I can say is get ya SAGS right and the rest is personal preferences. Playing with stock suspension can seem like ya want half a click and of course that isn't always possible. Sometimes 1 click is too much and 1 click less isn't enough, if you want it perfect go to the local suspension workshop, this is a guide only not gospel.....

Here's a suspension tuner showing how to set rebound! It's good to see it happen.

Good thread. I came from a 1977 Honda 750f supersport so the suspension on my 2004 Z1000 is heavenly in comparison. I did just have a fork upgrade to racetech springs and valves and the difference is quite amazing. I find when tuning my suspension, my PCIII, or any other worthy task on my Z a shot and a brew intensify the experience.

Brother Jonno,
Started to read but got no further than street set up static sag section. With virtually no static sag at the rear why would you fit a STIFFER spring? Wouldn't you reduce preload ( if any ) first ? and with a lot of free sag under bike weight only, ( PRELOAD OR NOT) it don't make sense to fit a SOFTER spring. My Z750 with no preload has negligible static sag at the rear, no way would I fit a stiffer spring. This has to be a typo right?

I tuned in my suspension a week a go, and went out on the weekend, OMG its like a different bike, even tho the z750 suspension is pretty basic, although I didn't use this post it encouraged me to fine tune my bike, thanks for the inspiration

I got the dampening at 1 turn from standard clockwise and the preload adjuster on notch 4 from soft,
The front rebound dampening is 2 clicks clockwise from standard and preload is set at 10mm out,
KEEP IN MIND THIS IS SET UP FOR MY WEIGHT OF 82kg,
