Well that was just a generalisation.
Actually I think "all people who generalise are dickheads"

Just goes to reinforce that you have to pass the "prick test" before anything will ever happen. A well worded letter is worth alot more than throwing a tanty.
Well done Dave, a great result

I'm absolutley flabbergasted that they didn't provide you with a receipt when they initially took the bike from you. What sort of hokey-pokey system are they running over there in Victoria??
As far as providing ID is concerned (and it may well differ in Victoria), we don't have to provide ID unless we have actually asked the person we are speaking with to provide ID. And then, only the officer who is doing the asking has to provide it. Still.... what difference does it make? They give me a badge for a reason. Happy to show it to anyone that wants to see a photo of a perfect example of the male form.

As I always say "You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar." I'm not sure why I always say that or how it relates to this thread.

Great work mate, the calm head gets more done than the fired up one sometimes.
You didn't send them the bill for the rebuild on Cath's 6 as well???

What a great result from a well worded complaint. Just goes to show, a loud voice is always heard.
Top stuff Dave.,

I asked much the same question

. I was gob-smacked when old mate told me that, it the eyes of the law, apparently if he suspect the property I hold is stolen then he can deem that it's not
actually mine as the person I bought it from had no right to pass interest in said property to me. As it's not
mine he's not required to issue me a receipt when he takes said property. To say I was flabbergasted would be an understatement in the extreme

Surely you couldn't rock up and take somebody's property (even if you suspect it's not theirs) without proving that you're a police officer and not some two-bit thief (who happens to look like doughnut man) can you?. I'm talking about a badge and a serial number, not your photo ID.
I'm just happy that little old me could make a difference, even if it's just for some other poor schmuck doing a ride day at PI
Thanks everyone for your support too
