yeah the first day was the hardest, then there was hope on the 2nd, but no. just thankful i could get it back on the road so fast.

just need to get the black paint now lol

OK UPDATE!!!!!!!

The other day i was riding home, and i noticed my right boot had some crap on it. so i took it off and thought shit thats oil, or brake fluid. found out its fork oil. the new forks i put on were stuffed and i mean really bad, the left was leaking out and down the fork to the brakes caliper and tyre. the right side would squirt oil over the fairings down the forks and on the tyre.
Now my old forks needed the seals doing so i went down and got the seals, oil and dust covers {well wife got them, i was a t work again.} anyway i have never done anything like this so i read the workshop manual, and that was no help. didnt explain anything properly and doesnt show enough pics {me simple person need picture books lmao}. lucky i still had the old forks so had a go at one of them. an hour later i had both forks off, seals out new ones in fresh oil, and $1.20 worth of 20c coins in the top, as per MAdkaws advise and afew more on here. they are great now. no leaks, very hard and reponsive. but damn i can feel everything now hahaha, cant wait till tomorrow to test them on the old road.
Oh and now that the front is done and i have a zzr rear end, it sits sort of low while riding it. when my fat arse is off it, it looks sweeet. :kuda:

OK update no:2

Ok 3 laps of the old road, and the front is perfect, very stiff, and feels very responsive. took me a lap n half to get used to it but all good. now the back end really sucks, but i dont care ill be selling her in a few months anyways. Been reasured that he will buy it so im happy it will go to a family memeber so ill still see her. And work on her too lol. engine is great now, fairings still to be cleaned up alittle. and ill still change the rear indicators back to factory ones beside the brake light, coz i can. All happy again

[quote="gpxpunk"]After a 60k low side on the old road and a mad dash up to bathurst for all the gear thanks to ebay i have the punk back on the road.

before:

now after:

So now all i have to do is put the twing disc front forks on that i picked up also, and get kelens to change over the tyre on friday and ill have be done for the time being.
The fairings are not the best, slight crack on the left which i have glued for time been. and the over all finsh is not the best but she is running and that the main thing.

Little bit later im ripping the fairings back off and respraying abit of it, to make it look sweet again, ill have to sauce a chrome exhaust coz the one i got was black and one black one chrome looks shit. And then that should be it.

Special thanks to Neville from kelens kawasaki for staying back tonight after i got the wrong gear lever, if it wasnt for him i wouldnt have the bike on the road once again. Cheers Bud, your a life saver.[/quoteIf you ever want ANY parts including exhaust or spare bike you can pm me.

ok. now im sick of aftermarket blinkers!!! :x

So ripped another set of blinkers and connected the originals back up, the ones next to the brake light. I dont care that they are too close.

So went to get the "e"check today for rego, and they are fine. not a word was said about them. they are still the original bulbs from when it was imported. so would be close to 20 year old bulbs and they are nice and bright. love them.

Yep still got the gpx250. the zx7r is in pieces at the moment, since it wont turn over at all.

well after a little chase down the m4 on wednesday arvo. i have kinda! maybe! killed the punks engine.

Thought it was the valves, after adjusting them i thought they came loose. But after ripping the rocker cover off and checking the valves {inlet 1 was abit loose} went to start again and have a real loud clack clack????

NO idea, but i might search for a newer engine to throw in her.

She will be sold soon but need it for alittle bit more till the 7 gets ont he road.

its bull crap half the engine is brand new so ill have to rip half it off and put on the new engine.

so is it fixed now shez if so see you on the old road one sunday.

Anyways, got my tyre changed over to the twin disc wheel today, replaced the forks and put all back together, had to go get a new socket coz i broke my nice shiny repco one, and they replaced it free of charge cool. then though on the way ill pull in to the wreckers in stmarys and asked if they had a chrome left hand muffler. $50 later i have a shiney chrome exhaust attached now, and it looks better then the original, should have asked if they had the right hand side too..

So now the twin disc front end is on and the new chrome exhaust, everything is starting to look sweet. i was going to get a sinel muffler set up but cant find anyone that wants to modify the spare headers. So ill have to settle for the twins.

Next in lone is the hard part, painting i dont want to strip her all the way back coz i dont want to sauce for the stickers, so ill leave them, plus i dont want it to be too new looking. so ill do a clean up spray jpb. cant wait.

so what was involved to get the twin discs on the front???

as i have a normal gpx which my bro rides now as you can see what it looked like in my dp
but i also have a imprt with the twin disc front that i kinda broke the motor in/on ??? anywho im looking at swapping the twin discs over onto the running gpx

cheers

not much you really need to do.

Rip the fairings off, and unbolt the forks, undo the brake hose at the handle bars and just slide it off the bike.

Do the opposite to the other one and re install the new forks.

the only thing you need to swap is the forst and the hose, since the hose slpits halfway down the forks.

All else fails just rip the good engine out and give to me hahaha

seems that way - my GPX engine, while arguably clapped out, was still doing its job.
The bike fell apart around it - but the engine was going ;)

well the engine was still going fine, no loss of power or anything just clacking up the top so i took it too kelens and they said the cam chain was rattling its head off and sounded like the top end was gone, then a phone call said the bottom end is gone, since the flywheel was loose and the crank was moving around. To be honest i dont under stand, and to be honest i couldnt give a fark anymore about it.

Priced a new engine and can get one from liverpool wreckers for 500 bucks but hi k's. South west motors where i got the bike said they had 5 engines i could choose from for the same price so ill grab one of those and instal it next week. but im making sure the clearances are fine first and has all new everything b4 she goes in. ten she is just transport for abit then she will be sold very soon after the fairings are fixed.

ok so Finally stripped the old engine and bought myself a parts engine. Replaced the cam chain tensioner, clutch plates, water pump and a few other bits and pieces onto the new engine and now finshed installing it. Cleaned the carbies and she started after a bit of adjustment from the idle adjuster. She is back on the road, WEll not just yet, stripping the fairing and plastic welding the cracks and giving it a all over freshen up. picks soon.
