Which reminds me that im pretty sure i have a spare front brake system from a z250 sitting in my garage if you want/need it. (bought it cheap on ebay prior to obtaining a zzr250 brake master cylinder).

I got the little sucker going again today. Seems as tho the fuel line was blocked. It Runs a little rough, but otherwise its ok....

Little bugger has caused me pain already....... Burnt my finger on the exhaust!!!!!!

Dont ask how, just assume i did something dumb!!!!!

Bump,

Its been a while since i have done any thing on the old girl. No pics as yet, but ill post some up in the coming days. Reason for the lack of work being i moved house into a unit with no shed Bike has been in a storage unit covered in shit for 4 months till today.

What i have done is:

Removed all fairing parts, seat, indicators, battery box.... Well, the only things left on the bike are the bars, forks, wheels, electrics and Engine. The rest, i hope will come off in the coming weekends. I hope to paint a fair slice of it and try to use all the original parts where possible.

Anyways, it nice to have a toy to play with in the shed again. Hopefully, ill have more updates now. I have been a little slack in that department

So, this is how i started the day.





Fave it a nudge today and the results are as follows. Sorry about the crap pics. That will teach me to put the memmory card in the camera.










So, after a few hours, only 2 bolts gave me any sort of trouble. One snapped off eventually and the other i need to take to with a grinder.

So, tonight i have spent about 30 mins cleaning up the clutch lever bracket that clips to the bar. Started off black and rather badly corroded.



I know it dont look perfect, but i will soon be getting a bench grinder with polishing pads on it instead of my cordless drill.

very nice - what did you use exactly? just some drill brushes? elbow-grease? silver-polish or something?

Polishing wheels on the drill Tony, about 30 mins worth of work including letting the paint stripper get the old paint off.

Well, i have been sorting through a LOT of parts the last few evening and i have enough spares to complete 2 original bikes.

I have picked out the best bits to clean up and put on the Project bike and the others will be for the commuter bike. Obviously, this project has sat idle for a long time as i lived in a 2 beddy apartment in the city.

Now i have a house, a few sheds and can get outside and work on the bike with a bit of room, I have again got some enthusiasm to move forward with this project again

Last night, i also further prepped the original frame and wheels ready to be powder coated. I am still hoping to paint the tank and panels myself. This was partly done when living in the unit, but that is where it stopped.

For those that are not familiar with what i want to do with the project bike, its to restore it back to as close to standard look as possible with a few nice touches to make it like the Moriwaki bikes of new and old.

I have a love of the old Kawasaki Z's and in particular, the works done to road going versions from Moriwaki Engineering in Japan.
Plan is to make the 250 look like it would not be out of place amongst other old Moriwaki bikes. Its a tough challenge, but one that I'm willing to take the time to achieve.

A few recent projects around here has also inspired me to get it going again.

Dave3 - instead of a 2fiddy, why don't you try something like a Z750 twin from the late 70's ?? These pop up on ebay every now and then for *not much*.

I have a long-term project 7fiddy twin (1977 Z750B1) like this in the 4th dimension......the plan is to make it look like a pommie cafe racer ( much like that 250 above) but with an alloy tank.......change the crank to a 270deg throw (this will give it the sound and power-delivery characteristics of a ducati).......so it looks British, sounds and feels italian to ride.........but its a Kawasaki with an engine that looks like 1/2 a Z900 on steroids !!!

I'd love to do a bigger one, but under 300cc is fuck all to register up here and I could justify a second rego'ed bike, whereas a 750 costs the same to register as a crim and that seems wasteful. Plus there's something cool about riding around knob-ends on R1s on an old POS 250 on the OPH.

Dave if the bike is 30yrs old"nsw" 25 in vic put it on club plates which is about 65 bucks for 45 days or about 110 bucks for 90 days

If you need any bits give me a holla, I have almost a compete bike in the shed
