Why don't u try another kawi then if u worried about height.... I ride a zephyr 550 and the height is perfect for 175-178cm tall person...
As rob said, check out lams and see what bikes are on there and go from that... Limiting urself to a gpx, zzr or zx2r isn't helpin... More out there...
I reccomend the naked bikes simply cos if u drop it... and u might.... no damage well much.... and i speak from experience

Couldn't agree more. The little ZR550 was a great bike and the extra power means it will last much longer before you are bored with it and when you think you are at that stage try opening the throttle more. But some people want a sports bike and a naked does not fit their image.

well I may have accidentally said I'm 180cm... I'm actually 188cm.... but no matter I've decided to go for the Hyosung gt250r just because I like the look and the size it just feels right. Im starting my new job in a week or so. so I should be able to pick one up fairly soon.

Some advise i was given...
Don't buy a brand new bike.... If u drop it you will cry more tears cos u spent x amount of $$ on it.... Plus ur only going to upgrade in a matter of a year + however many months u spend on ur l's
plus i dont know bout u, but it takes forever to save for a brand new bike, insurance, gear, rego etc and getting finance when u only just got ur job is a biatch!!!
Have u looked into insurance etc for the hyosung???

Why not look at the Kawasaki ER5! Certainly suit your height and as already mentioned naked bikes are cheaper to repair when you have the inevitable off.
And anyway faired bikes are for "pussys".
Just ask the ZRX riders on this forum!!!!!!!!!

couldnt agree more, i cant talk height wise, i can tippy toe on an ER-5. But im about to pick one up this weekend, and after test rides, they go well, not a racer, thats for sure, but theyre comfortable, and light, and the 500cc engine gives you alot more go than your average 250.

I still don't know what a motard is, but to me it sounds like it means "retarded motorbike"

zzr 250 isnt such a small bike, i rode one on my l's p's, ofc i didnt go hard at all and always stuck to speed limits (truely), unfortunately i cant say that now
Comparing it to other entry level bikes, the hyo gtr 650 weighs like 200+ kgs compared to the 150~ kg of a zzr 250. im pretty sure the 650s power is also comparable to the 250s and with 200kg its gonna feel like a massive bike, the 10R feel heavy enough at 180kg.
Depending on how fast you are going to get a new bike-(usually its alot quicker than you expect) a older model zzr will hold its value alot better i bough mine for 3k and sold for 3k 1 1/2 years later. Once your unrestricted you probly want something like a 600 sports bike or bigger, so if you lose alot on resale it might not be the best thing. 250s dont have THAT much power, they will get you from A to B easily at the speed limit, no 0-100 in 3.2s though

i felt i learnt alot from mine, riding position is more forgiving becuase there is less pressure on your wrists from more upright position compared to a 'sport' bike, so mistakes with the accelerator wont lead to kissing the tarmac that quickly.
You will have fun on anything, even if its a postie bike ( sometimes i have more fun on the postie than the zx-10r

)

Sensible idea shortass.
The CBR and ZXR are both made for tiny toy japanese people... The ZZR although being roomier has a really low seat and the suspension cannot be adjusted for a taller person. On top of this the ZXR and the CBR will be at least 15 years old (and that is being kind) despite being "2000+" certified will still be pieces of shit.
The Gt250R may lack a little bit of power compared to the 4 cylinder bikes, but it is better looking, larger and much more suited to a taller person.

damn i didnt see this post before but now i have, definately would pick one up from someone who is in your postion in 2 years time, who did buy a new bike, didnt really thrash it (i dont know if you can really do much damage to them), then has to sell it for a serious loss

while you pick it up for fraction of new and still have the same use out of it.
Having said that i still dont trust those korean bikes, say what you will those hyo owners out there (probly not that many on this forum), but japaense rice burners just keep lasting and lasting. (There is a reason hyo's are cheaper

)
