Just Spoke to a mate at Central Appliance repairs in Geelong and he reckons if it's a CRT rear pro it is old and obscenely expensive to fix.
Upwards of a $1000 at least. If it was LCD it would be worth it at about $500.
He said "if it was my mate I would tell him to fuck it off"
I work in the Industry and can get you a new Full HD LCD for $1100.
If your nice that is?
Can't be doing that all the time though.
Cheer's Steve
60 inch Hitachi CRT projector.........up until the picture went walkabout, it was a good picture.
I'm hoping it's just an IC thats failed as the screen went black instantly as I was watching it, but want to get an idea of the cost to repair it..........then a decision will have to be made[/quote]

That's a fantastic offer mate, and I really appreciate it ................... but unless my 6 numbers get pulled on Saturday ;)

I've just climbed out from the back of the telly and as most people have said ..........."it's rooted", got a B line voltage so the problem lies in the HV circuits, approx cost of spare part $1000

sorry to head about that tho rossi, but to be honest the part only costs about 1/3 of that. most of it would be labour. :?

I hate to be defeeatist but we live in a disposable society so you're probably best to bin the farker.

That said if anyone has a predicament like this in Brisbane, there used to be an old bloke called Wilko (Wilco?) who could fix just about anything - he was down at Springwood/Daisy Hill area but I've just done a search and found:

Wilko's Electronics
Phone: (07) 3343 7788
Address: 26 Badminton St Mt Gravatt East QLD 4122

I assume this is the same guy so if anyone up here needs anything give him a try, if it's the same bloke he was really great to deal with (we did a lot through him back when CRT monitors were actually worth fixing!) and wouldn't yank your chain if something wasn't worth fixing.
