Today was GREAT!

Roadcraft was sobering.

Braking: "mirrors, setup, front, clutch, rear, shift"

but it feels like "GRAB EVERYTHING AND JUMP ON THE PEDALS" :?

Cornering: wash off speed, start wide, look where you want to turn, finish close.
Cornering is fun!!!! Especially when you roll the power back on

Slow riding techniques. The clutch of a bike is IN THE OIL! Ride the clutch baby and use that back brake.

Blinkers: What you want me to ride the thing AND use the blinkers at the same time.

In any given movement I usually forget of the things I need to remember.

Setting up for a corner, get on the brake, check the mirrors, forgot to get wide

Starting from stop, high rev, friction point, ease the clutch out, off the back brake, forgot to "HEAD and MIRROR check"

All in all my tutor DANNY, the bikes and the facilities were FANTASTIC and I highly recommend St Ives.

As a side note, today the advanced dudes were ripping around the track through the bush on their big bikes (except one new GPX250 (black with green))

Now off to the RTA for a little test, have to check the website for the questions.

Tim.

Good luck Tim, It is a very easy test From memory only 21 or 27 questions, and if you have been driving awhile then should be able to pass without an effort. See you on the road. :kuda:

sounds like a great idea, how long 'till your bike is fixed?

I feel a "learners ride" thread coming on!

Something maybe without so many darn corners :)

Congratulations again Tim.

If you manage to snaffle your L's this week give me a yell and we can do an early morning old road run.

Have you bought any gear yet? If not I've got a spare jacket you can borrow plus about three sets of gloves that are spare.

Thanks DISCO :)
Thanks Glen :)
That ride sounds GREAT!

I have a Lid (RJays$250 thingo). Also some Gloves (AstarsSP2) (which are a bit big, got em anyway they'd fit dad and the guy was almost giving them away so they'll get me going)

I've borrowed a mates Dainese Leather Jacket too. He wrote his bike off so looking to sell it. It's a bit big for me but fits perfectly with a thin jumper underneath so i might buy that.... not sure tho got a feeling a size down would be better, will try it on the road.

Bike's tentatively booked in for tomorrow at Complete Car Care, but then it depends on the rta as to how registration progresses.... 1 step at a time.

If it fits alright with a jumper underneath then it's probably OK mate. Wait till winter arrives you won't regret it.

Don't forget your legs either ie boots and probably some draggin Jeans or something similar

I agree, corners are the best part!

Bike should be fixed soonish, technically i can ride now, it just looks crap cause it's got scratches and dents etc

And i was thinking a learners ride for fun, not for educational purposes :P And who really wants to be seen with a bunch of learners anyway???

I changed the topic to reflect the current situ.

Exciting the_shez and gpxpunk

So I got my Ls :D (with booklet about Braking, which interestingly talks about the great roads around Sydney/NSW for motorbiking(naming them)).

Bike's now got Blue Slip, Green Slip, Insurance and 90% rego done, but still needs its "VIIU" check. $411 for checking 2 or 3 numbers on a database! :x I knew that was the case before buying it, it's still exhorbidant (spell?), especially for a bike brought from a licensed dealer.

It's booked in next available, at Penrith 6am thursday. I'm gonna ring up the RTA frequently to try to get an earlier time, apparently people do cancel but I'd be lucky to get in before work mon-wed.

SOOO I can't ride this weekend; no bike :(

Buuuuut NEXT WEEKEND for me "all stations go!"

Nah not really, Its a straight swap, We stuffed the first one, but got to say had it for 6 years and been to SA, Vic, and all around NSW so cant complain.
So just put it on stnads, drop the gearbox and put another one in but, the misses has plans, she wants me to fit the bodykit and probably start to spray it soon hahaha.
