I wonder how they tracked the vid down, i wonder if they followed up on that "excessive speeding" lead.

Anyway if you were to do something stupid like this, the smart thing to do is to do it in another state, don't release the footage until at least 6 months after the event and have a bash at using an anonymising proxy when you upload the video.

Seriously though, what the guy did was stupid and im impressed the guy got pinged so quickly for it.

Youtube do not hesitate to comply with copyright infringements, police assistance etc... They would have handed over the poster's IP immediately after the police requested it... From the IP you can easily get the ISP. Call the ISP and if it is a static IP you have the person within what is really a few working minutes... With those details a judge wouldnt hesitate to grant a search warrant and bob is your uncle or at least a close relative.

Yes, if you are going to post things like that you should do the following: (other than things in the video itself)
1. Do not post from your own machine, use an internet cafe or the house of someone you dont like
2. Do not use your own name/date of birth/any other details to create your profile (this goes with EVERY site that doesnt belong to a corporation, even KSRC)
3. Use a yahoo/hotmail account as your contact details NOT your own ISP or Work email address

This actually applies to pretty much all things on the internet... Identity theft is rife on the internet, google your own name and see what you find.... Your future boss surely will.... It takes a LONG time to clean up things like that on the net, so best get cracking :)

Yeah, no one ever rides like that when I've been on KSRC rides, right?
