Once I get this shitheap going, will bung up some footage on Utube......

well, after a bit of a carbie clean (there were spiders in 1 float bowl

) - suprisingly the carbs were in pretty good nick - and a tank of fresh juice..........it was time to * Kick it in the Guts Barry *
Used the car battery.........after a bit of a wind over ( and the usual complaints from the shitty starter-clutch).....she FIRED UP !
Only a bit of 'cobweb' smoke, ran fine on the choke, and then idled just fine, if a tad too high - probably set like that to help prevent stalling when taking off.........I reckon the previous owners may have issues with it stalling, as 3 out of 4 float-bowl breather tubes were fully blocked up. Not good .....but fixed now.
Sounds shit-hot. There are a couple of rattles (this is a first-gen Z650 motor, so its still using points

- anyone born after 1990 needs to google 'Kettering Points system' !!

) - main rattle just seems to be a bit of a cam-chain rattle, not even sure I will worry about it at this stage........replaced the busted gear-change shaft with a spare from another z750 motor in the 4th.......so tomorrow I'll sort out the gear-linkage mechanism, put in a charged battery.......and its all systems go !!
Looking forward to taking it out for a fang.........stay tuned for bulk sideways footage !!

G'day Gos, I've got a transistor/cdi ignition somewhere in the garage - built from one of the electronics mags projects. It's for a car so I don't whether it's suitable, but its yours if you want it.

24hrs later are we goimg to take over the only available resources? ---- Given the current economic climate this thing might be the vehicle of choice! Can you mount a turret and M60 to that thing?

Time for a bump for this baby.......I have been fair on the tools over the last couple of weekends, and plenty of progress has been made....
* Moved original steering wheel location up and forward - this now allows barge-arses to sit in the seat and actually steer.....
* Removed poxy old bucket seat, and fitted up a slightly less-poxy VN dunneydoor seat.....waaaay more comfortable for barge-arse.
* Re-constructed the rear brake linkage mechanism. This is the ultimate back-yard bodge, and its not even mine. But its so incredibly bodgy, and yet 100% fully functional - that I have left it in place and just got it working properly.......wait for the pics.....
* Did a proper number on the gear-shift mechanism and also fitted an extended lever to the shift lever next to the seat. Its a lot better than it was, but the ultimate test will be next weekend's shakedown......
* Fitted some nice checkerplate covers to the rear, one of which serves as a good workbench....
* Gave it a quick spray-can paintjob, just to clean it up a bit. Some other cosmetic alterations as well......
With a bit of luck, this baby should be singing like a bird next Saturday. YouTube footage to follow closely - stay tuned....
