Chopped the canister down from 500mm to 300mm. But the baffle material there is no baffle material in the first 180mm from the mid pipe. Not sure if this is what all slip ons have as this is the first one I've pulled apart. Also the section I cut off had all the scratches.

Anyway sounds a bit throutier at idle and definately sounds a lot better above 7k. Alot more like a race bike. The neighbour said he could here it for a couple of minutes before I arrived at the gate, but I must admit I was on it pretty hard. No issues with power delivery, still pulls like a freight train. It's 3 up on the rear sprocket, so still power wheelies in 3rd. Must say I love living in a rural area with a great set of twisties only minutes away.

Very happy with the result. Can't believe how long it looked before I chopped it.

I really did not think the pipe would look good chopped but man was I wrong. That looks shit hot.
Makes the original length look too long.

I have a stock zx6 2000 model stock pipe. Just been out in the shed tinkering. Pulled the rear baffle type thing off it and thinking of knocking 100 or 150mm off over all length while im going. Will this cause any drama's on stock jetting??

Does the stock can have any form of 'chamber' baffling in it ? Or can you see right through from end-to-end ?( assuming of course that you have taken the can off at some stage )

If it is already straight-through, then lopping 100mm off it should not require any jetting changes. If it has 'chambers' inside the can, then you may need to richen it a tad, as removing any restrictions in the can will increase exhaust flow, and all things being equal, your bike will run a bit leaner.

But the question I have is this - why bother on a stock can ? It will 'look' a bit better, bit its not likely to be any louder ? Its a cheap way of getting the shorty look I guess......
