Hey Marti yep its a shit feeling i remember when i left adelaide 24 years ago when my kids were only 2years old and came to melbourne left all behind, chucked in my job it was really hard but since then i started a new life then wammo another on busted when my son was 5 years old.So i suppose what im saying is things will get better and life is a funny thing but everybody moves on and im sure with you will too.Maybe it would help if ya took some time of work and get into things you enjoy.caught up with family and freinds.Catch up with ya for a run when your ready

Not really much I can add here Marty.
Like many others I have been through this as well and its a terrible thing.
After about 7 or 8 years together, my ex played up behind my back.
I thought things were OK and had no idea about it. I was completely shocked and couldn't function for a while. She was soooo sorry and didn't want to loose me, but I just couldn't forgive her or forget about it.
It took some time to get over it but I did, met a much better lady and now couldn't care less about the ex...

Marty
unfortunately not all is sweet all the time life sucks and it kicks one in the guts.
Spending time and making the effort with someone for any extended period of time
to have it all collapse in a heap (for whatever reason)...hurts
This is a tuff one..and made worse coz not only are adults involved.
I have been here too ( thankfully no kids were involved) and it took time
...to heal the hurt and start being a normal human being adult. Everything
suffers in the meantime . I am not a counsellor so i really can't offer more
..other than hang in there, things will get better.

Marty, I think at some point in time, we all go through something of this nature.
My self included after 7 years I find out for 2 years she has been running around behind my back, and marries him 2 weeks after we broke up.
This gutted me for a very long time and I went down a destructive path that nearly killed me. This is not the way to go.
I hit a very low time in my life. I tried to fill the hole but honestly TIME heals this. I found a new partner and turned my life around.
Just treat yourself right Marty cause after all, your a top bloke, who deserves better.
Chin up mate. If you need anything just ask.

Women are poison, eh? Methinks take time off work and go on a roadtrip is a good idea, it helped me a lot when I came out of a 6 year relationship. There's nothing like helmet time, and lots of it, to fix what ails ya. If you make it this far north, I'll shout you a round or five. -J.

Marty, there are so many people who can empathise with you. It may or may not help right now- but you are SO not on your own.
My ex husband of over twenty years did the same thing to me more than once. I tried for many years to make it ok, but once trust is gone you have nothing (whether you want it that way or not.) That may sound harsh, but it is the cold hard truth.
I have met you and spent a lot of time with you over the HG weekend. YOU DESERVE BETTER THAN THAT! It took me a long time to realise that fact. A lot of people are arseholes, but there are people out there just like you that value trust, honesty and integrity. Do not settle for someone that treats you like a doormat! The last thing you want to contemplate right now is another partner, I know. But sometime one day you will, and there is someone who will treat you much better I am 100% sure of that.
Those facts won't take away the feelings you have in your heart, but the old cliche of time healing wounds is true. The best thing that you can do when you are finished grieving your loss is get out in the world again. I have dragged myself off to places (like HG) when the last thing in the world I wanted was to socialise. I had fun, I laughed and I realised that I could actually enjoy other peoples company despite a broken heart.
It is her sad loss my friend- you have your integrity and your head held high- not all people are pricks, and someone that deserves you will come your way when you are ready.
Best wishes and I really do know how you feel.
