Yeah, they are reflective stick on ones. We use them aswell. They don't really detract from the look of the bike, but then again, it is a BMW.

cops here have had em for a while too... 3 yrs??

You dont have give your email address to sign the petition. You can sign it anonymously if you wish.
Which is why online petitions never works imho.
If you want it to really count, you need physical signatures, coz any tom dick or harry can just go on multiple times anonymously.
I'd sign my name on a piece of paper, simply because I believe that's where it makes a difference becuase it actually take effort and shows you're serious about it.

Do physical or online petitions for that matter ever work??? I seriously doubt it....
If you ask me, you get a doctor and someone from the MRAA to go onto ACA or Today Tonight, saying what the govenrmnet plans to do.. as joe public couldn't give a toss about MC riders and they probably also all think we all speed and race on the streets and deserve to be caught anyway... you need to tell them it is going to cost them (the average punter) $70m (if that is the figure) from the public coffers to do something that is going to catch a handful of MC riders speeding while being potentially dangerous and there are other ways. Show some old pictures from the 70's of injuries which must have occured for them to take them off in the first place...
I would prefer they actually used that $70m on new police and actually get off their arses and get out there and police EVERYBODY on the road and enforcing ALL road rules, rather than sit back and let technology do the work for them in a couple of stationary places only targeting one aspect of bad driving. $70m would pay for a lot of cops and equipment that can also be used to throughout the whole community.

The proposed plate is a sticker (decal) and if it can't be stuck on (as in the case of a naked bike or cruiser) would then be applied to a plastic mounting plate which would bolt onto the bike. There are three types of mounting plates proposed to mount it either above the handlebars, or the light, or under the light. The sticker is the size of a rear plate.
The whole proposal is being sold as a way of slowing down bike riders as deaths have increased over the past couple of years (just like they did between 2000 to 2001 before they dropped in 2003!) and they claim that speed CONTRIBUTES to deaths and injury of riders (so do cars but they don't seem to be doing much about them) and that being able to identify bike riders from the front with cameras will improve the road toll.
I agree with sarakoth in that the $70million they are waisting on this could be better spent on things that could actually help the road toll.

done..........not because i believe this petition will make a differance on its own, more that it may show us wether we care or not and then as a group decide to fight or just roll over and cop it!! the thing i think that bonds us together, no matter what u ride, is the sense of freedom riding gives, and freedom is whats at risk

Great to see some riders have decided to stand up and be counted, not content to be lemmings.

Everyone seems to be of mixed opinions here about the issue which is normal because we aren't robots, but I just can't seem to be able to take a side here!
I think that we don't really have a leg to stand on and it pisses me off because I don't know of many people out there that have cleaned up many pedestrians of late!
I also think that if they impose this crap eventually that there ios going to be some tolerance in how the plate is mounted! Just look at the 05 ZX10R onwards for example. Where are you going to put the plate? The only place I could think of is RTA standard Stickers designed for particular makes to suit certain areas on machinery, ie: between the bottom of the cockpit visor and the air intake or below the air intake and above the lights so as not to obstruct the vision or airflow of the air intake to the engine or hinder the ability of the vehicles lights!
I don't want to hear of some wankers excuse to locate a plate on the front nose wheel faring. Out of the question! Think of the engine damage that causes!
When you are riding your water cooled machine the main draft of airflow is straight under the upper cowl and above the nose wheel, no surprises there!
But think about it, You go for a scrap on a hot day and even if you are law abiding your engines seizes! There is always the possibility of it happening!
Getting back to engine damage, even if your pride and joy doesn't seize, give it time, eventually your machine will suffer long lasting effects of wear and teare from running hot and there will be nothing you can do about it! Claim from the Government, your dreaming!
To sum it up, for all its worth, I would go with stickers but you can jam your steel plate up the preverbial!
This is just the minor technical aspect of have a number plate on the front of ZX10R machine, we havn't even covered naked bikes, cruisers or Road Trail!
Oh yeah, I signed that petition, the site is pretty legit!
