From my experience with the Pirelli Diablo and the super Corsa is that they have about the same grip levels as M3's and Rennsports/Racetechs, but the Metzlers must have a slightly harder compound which delivers more miles. I also found the Diablo to develop a flat edge on the sides very quickly which caused loads of little slappers when on the gas. I also find the M3 to turn in a little better and change direction a little easier than the Pirelli Diablo and the Rennies and Racetechs are way sharper than the Super Corsa in this respect also. However, credit where credit is due, I find the Pirelli Diablo to provide a little better feel through the bars than the M3! Right on the limit, the M3's can be a little skatey. But I am talking corner speeds that you are most likely not to take road corners at, unless of course you are an ex or current A grader! And if you are, you could ride on Z6's and still hose all of us!!!!!!!
Mate.. I'm just a fat bastard that loves to ride my ZX9 any day or night, any weather... (my last 9 had 75,000Kms on it when I sold it after 6yrs of ownership) I want tyres that are good value, good grip, good feel and most of all give me confidence in them. Currently I have a Metzler Sportec on front and Roadtec on back, this is what the bike came with from the previous owner, only had it for 3weeks. However I am not very happy with the back tyre. Doesn't stick as much as I am used to and feels a bit like I am riding on marbles, if that makes sense. I have checked the pressures they are good, we have adjusted suspension settings abit. Maybe sportec all round? or maybe another type? or maybe back to my beloved Pirelli's??? Dunlops 207 used to be good too either 207 or 205 can never remember which one... the more stickier one ;-)

You'll rip them to shreds on the 10 pretty smartly mate.
Mate any sports bike with 100hp or more will tear a race tyre to shreds when you're a throttle jockey. The nine may be 20 hp down on the 10, but it's 10kg heavier! So it balances out and even a sluggish old 9 will chew tyres if you have to nail it to keep up! But if you are as smooth as Mick is they will last OK! 8) I managed 9k from a front and 5 or 6 from memory out of rears. They are a top tyre!

So what do you reckon of how these look Marty? I had a ball with them at EC and was apparently leaving some nice darkies too ;)

They tipped in nice, stuck like the proverbial to a blanket, and when they did start spinning up at the rear it was very predictable and controllable.

So Mick, how did you find your first track day with tyre warmers ?

The front looks damn near perfect Mick. The rear looks like it may have had a tad too much pressure in it. 8) By the looks of the pics, you had a great time but!!! Those Rennies are good arn't they!! :D

OK, I put 32 in the front and 34 in the rear so I can try a little less in the rear next time. You were definitely right on how they would go and the 180 rear wasn't a problem at all...I just need to work on my lines as I reckon I've still got plenty of room for improvement. I was pretty happy with a best of 1:53:76 for my first time out though.

The tyre warmers were awesome Swabio, although I still had a mental block on the first lap and couldn't push hard still.

Knee down at the first turn with warmers mate!!! Watch it with warmers, if you don't go hard from the get go, the tyres start cooling off and can spit you orf!! it was common at race meets, that when guys were gunna crash, it was usually 2nd or 3rd lap in!!!! 8)

I kept telling myself that would happen if I didn't, but still...

It was mostly turn 2 anyway, after that I kind of felt I had the feel and was pushing hard by turn 5.

Oh, and ask Gos what happens at turn 2 when your session gets red flagged and they pull you in to sit for a few minutes while they clean up then send you back out again

I put Metzler M1's on my bike... then hit the road and track............ HOLY SHIT!!!... stuck like shit to a blanket.. I am converted.

I rode the rear tyre right to the edge and then some.. I never had any feelings of it letting go... it was great.

"ive got one set of rennsports here.. $450 fitted to u"

so i sent sms to Strika and Philthy... Strika calls me back saying "buy the fucking things mate, there great" or sumthin along those lines...
