Even though my last "naked" was a Katana and that was some years ago, I still like the idea of being able to see a dirty great donk hanging out of the frame 8)

Most of us ride bikes for a couple of reasons, speed and cornering. The better you ride, the more it becomes about the cornering.

I jumped off my 05 ZZR600 and onto an 07 Z750 and found it made me corner at twice the speed and let me get far lower and feel far more confident. So i traded the ZZR600 and upgraded 3 days later. I made a loss but it so far has been worth it, besides....i save money on fuel, registration, insurance and servicing....(i will do my own as soon as i feel confident the bike doesn't have any engine problems, warranty isn't worth the paper cost anyway) also far easier to get to engine parts for oil changes etc.

As for the feeling, that little bump instead of a windshield works quite well up to about 170 and i commute 60 odd K's a day on it. My back has stopped cracking since i bought the Z750 and i feel better after a ride. I feel more confident emergency braking and have had a couple of rear slides but never felt the bike was going to wash out and have actually found it more comfortable to use the back brake more than on the ZZR.

If you are not a proffessional racer and just ride street, give one a go....i recon you won't look back.

BTW.........the clamshell fairings on the front of the bike do a fantastic job

Just as an addendum, I have ridden both. Just so's you all know.

I agree that both styles are excellent choices. I just happen to prefer my ZX9R over anything else I've ridden, and not simply because it has fairings. I would not dismiss a bike simply because it has or doesn't have fairings, although as mentioned, I like the wind protection on cold/rainy days.

OK Plastic vs Naked. Obviously you get better feel naked, but there is the disease problem, not to mention pregnancy  .

Ohhhh, You mean motorcycles?
Well, coming off an original CBR 1000 to my ZRX1200, noticble diffrences are.
1) First off living in Cairns FNQ, wet weather protection was a real step back on the ZRX.
2) Handlebars are wider on the REX so lane splitting is not as easy.
3) Riding in allegedly comfortable style was /IS uncomfortable, STILL is even @ 42 yrs old.
4) Missus loved the fully faired look, hates the naked look.
5) Low down torque is UP in spades, top end , no lose (200 extra cubes).
6) Fuel economy was better in std form on the REX, not any more :( .
7) Insurance is affordable, under $400 year.
8) Blows sports bikes stupid in short sprints, approx equal to the distance between traffic lights, maybe
9) ZRX's are sooo easy to modify/improve/personalize :D . Other's probably are as well :) .
