RTA rego was $230 last year, so $450 + $230 = $680 ..................WTF

My rego (Vic) for my ZX6 in January was $450.60.

Break-up:

Registration Fee - $33.70
TAC Premium - $379.00
Insurance Duty - $37.90
**includes charge for "so-called motorcycle safety initiatives"

$501.20 for the ZZR600, can't find the slip for the breakdown but from memory $53.90 is our "safety" levy.

Not listed as a separate tax anymore, just included in the TAC component with the asterisks so you don't notice it as much, at least that's my theory why it's no longer listed separately.

NSW - Last week NRMA quoted $678 just for the Greenslip (CTP) on the GPZ900r (thats with comprehensive insurance too). Still haven't factored in the rego, roadworthty cert or transfer fees (stamp duties). Sad really

Not that I am aware...although I believe scooters are slightly cheaper if they are under a certain capacity. XJ900 rego was the same as the ER-5's, and the prices on all rego seems to have actually come down a bit over the last couple of years. This is due to the CTP component being cheaper which is a result of new limits on the amount that can be claimed.

Anyhow, I've said it before, I'd rather pay $250/year for my licence than the $800+ a year spread amongst the 4 CTP premiums I pay when at most we can only actually drive/ride 2 at a time.

for my 12R..Vic city rates (TAC is cheaper more than 35km from CBD)

Registration $33.70 (CHEAP!)

in 5 years time....I get 50% pensioners discount
on the rego..a whole $16.85

both your 1200 and MickD's 600 were the same at $501.20, but Zoidy's ZX6 only came in at $450.60 ? Is that >600cc for both your bikes, and the ZX6 is listed as 599cc, so is a bit cheaper ?

Felix - agree 100%. Ideally, only 1 insurance premium would be charged (based on the biggest capacity bike owned), a roadworthy certificate would be compulsory for each individual vehicle, and you would only *Own 1 plate*, which would be used on whatever vehicle was being used at the time - like you say, we can only ride /drive 1 vehicle at a time.....

havent read the other comments, but i beleive this is the practice in sum euro countries??

Renewed the rego on my 12 last week in NSW and green slip with GIO was $311.08 and made up of
Premium $199.29
GST $19.92
MCIS Levy $91.87 (gives you ambulance cover and disability cover)

Rego $98.00

E-slip $18.00

Total $427.08 for 12 months...

cheers mate - bloody hell there must be a lot of variation in NSW for green slips..........all based on age, experience and claims history I guess........... Your total costs are less than some of the quotes on here *just* for the insurance component....

E-slip - this is an e-tag ?? Would it normally form part of rego costs ?

I have heard this as well, not sure if its urban legend ?

e-slip was once a pink slip but now some rego checkers do it on line and send it directly to RTA same as CTP green slip is sent when paid, less paper work to take in.

Yes older riders do get some benefit of long years of riding and living in a relatively safe location with a garage for the bike.

No chance of that here, if you live more than 35km from the CBD, you probably live in NSW already !

Where are the WA rates ??
