Get the f$%^ outta here  Really, I never would've guessed.

Note for anyone else out there. If you have a list of things you want to do before you die "Watching Mad Max 1 with Gos" has to be on the list.

Sensational (there's that word again) stuff mate. It'd be brilliant to go to one of these things. KSRC trip to Silverton perhaps..... The "See you on the road girlfriend" tour 8)
Yeah, it's a shame we never got around to watching MM2 as well
I was worried Gos was going to explode..."we've seen the type before, terminal psychotic"

icebreaker wrote:I saw the original one from the movie when I was younger, def not the same owner cause I was only a little tacker really.. I remember talking to him and asking him about it. Was at a car show in western sydney somewhere in the 80's.
The *Original* Pursuit Special was trailered around the country about 1979/80 or 81, as part of a MM travelling roadshow - they were trying to recoup some expenses from making the movie !!

There is a whole story about the original car, and subsequent 'cars' (2 used in MM2) - the original car was sold, then re-purchased for the filming of MM2, another car was built (only to be trashed in the filming), and the original car ended up in a garage in Adelaide where it sat for a couple of years, before having a restoration (of sorts) done.

This car now resides in the 'Cars of the Stars' museum in England, it is the dinkum item. There are many many replicas around the globe, lots in America, if you just google Mad Max, all the good websites are there, including MadMaxMovies dot com - the best of the lot.

A 'See You On The Road girlfriend' Tour out to Silverton sound like a great idea, its a long ride from most places (only 5 hours from Adelaide, you guys got no excuses !! :D ) ........I did this run back in 2002 from ACT, it took 1 day to ride to Mildura, and we made it to Broken Hill for lunch on Day 2, spent second half of Day 2 on the piss, a full day of festivities on Day 3, then rode back home Day 4 and half of Day 5...........it was a great trip..........

PM666 - that other 'replica' is just a normal 2-door, the blower is fake, and it is actually the publicans personal vehicle ! He didn't want to go to the expense of fitting up the Monza front-end........and he had a bit to do with MM2, which was the one filmed out there. A really nice bloke, he had some great stories about the whole shebang.....

Good Stuff Gosie.
I was seriously pissed off at the "Magnet taxi driver" for pulling the pin & making me miss MM2 with full narrative & re enactments Tuesday after the supers.

To be fair, out there is where cars belong... where there's enough room for them to stretch their legs and not just get in each other's way the way they do in cities...
