As someone else has said, look at the Z750!
They are quite a competent performer and are very comfie to ride.
To sum up the Z's, they are sports bike without the rice......!

You tried taking the weight off your wrists yourself? Sounds like your riding style is putting too much pressure on them - you really shouldn't be supporting yourself at all with your arms/wrists!

But that aside - I'd say look at a pre-2003 ZX6 too. They're a much more laid-back styling than the current race-reps, probably similar to the F4i.

Or the 9R - I got it for the comfort too!

2000-2002 ZX6R's are very comfy bikes. I could ride it all day without getting much discomfort. Takes a bit more work to ride in the tight stuff but overall a very good compromise on comfort/versatility/performance. And the '02 came with the first 636cc motor :P

umm clip-ons are wot the zx6r has..are u meaning moto x bars?? or bar risers?? they may help... will look silly tho...

the F4i isnt a bad bike..stunters love em...

look for a pre 03 zx6r too...if u can find a good one..the F4i finished in 02 or 03 neway, tho they did bring a model out last year modelled on the F4...

Probably bar raises, so I don't have to assume the full "Racing" position with alot of weight on the wrists....

What you appear to be doing is reading a lot of what people are posting and assuming it will apply to you when you upgrade from the 250.

Remember that weighting the wrists under normal riding is a symptom of bad posture. Between compressing your abs, gripping the side of the tank with your knees and using your hamstrings and arse to keep yourself from slumping forward during downhill sections and braking, you should never be putting any weight directly through the bars of a streetbike. Yes, it's more demanding than a riding position where you just flop on top of the bike, but it turns every commute into a subtle workout for your core muscles, too, which is good. It makes you Bike-Hard(TM), which permits 800km days through the mountains two-up.

If you're really after comfort, unless you 600Fed (I kill me sometimes, really I do) and have been typing "F4i" when you really meant "F5" ie. the fuel-injected CBR600F with the one-piece seat which we started getting when the F4i was superseded by the CBR600RR, the Honda is not the best option. The seat's too small, too thin and too angular. The pre-03 ZX6 kills it there. It's also geared taller and, as a partial consequence, gets better fuel economy and range.

yup.

Agree with I-K on both points.

I don't get sore wrists on the RSV. And that bike is almost as much of a chiropractor's dream as a 916/996/998 Duc. But I can get sore abs/thighs. If yer wrists are sore, yer doing it wrong.

Steer clear of the 600RR comfort-wise. And the 2000-2002 ZX-6R feels like a cruiser after riding the RSV. Seriously, I could ride that thing all day and come off it happy and not sore.

Good tips people, I appreciate the time and effort everyone is going to.

With the ZX6R's, it went to EFI in 2003?

Also, it isn't so much the weight on my wrists, it is the twisting action that tends to get it a bit sore - nothing too major.

\yea 03/04 was the "barra".... i wouldnt recomend it for wot u want..oh, and ALL bikes give ya that "twisted wrist" sensation..even my new Z does it, but much less weight on wrists...
