get the wave 2. I used both the one you have mentioned and the wave 2 (someone stole my back protector at a food court. I left my gear on a seat and went to get something, GONNNE!!). The wave 2 is much cooler is summer. The Space S is wayyy tooo hot (atleast for me). The wave 2 has a mesh kinda thing wherein it breadths

What I wanna know is who wears them and when?

Am I a tosser for gettin one if i dont race track ride?

I've got one now after years of ridin without it.Had some bad ackos and luckly, never hurt my spine. I use it every ride, road or track.

Nobody gonna think that. The more protection from the dreaded "bitumen surfing" the better..

Having worked at the PA Hospital Spinal Injuries Unit with new paraplegics and quadraplegics, I fully recommend the use of back protectors! You can never have too much protection for your spine. Better being hot and maybe a little uncomfortable in leathers and a back protector, then in a wheelchair for the rest of your life.
Cheers,
Anne
