You guys are great!
I went out for good hard blat after work and I knew that my best years are still ahead. My brother died at 29 from leukaemia and I looked after him while he died- I guess it makes me see my mortality more clearly. I held his hand and stroked his head while he died. Being with him while he died changed my life- I went out and studied for 5 years to get the job of my dreams. I left a toxic marriage after way too long. I learnt to ride a bike at 39- his short life taught me much.
I know where I am going and what I want. I have a great job that I worked hard for and some absolutely amazing friends that love me dearly. I am getting to know an amazing younger man who is very special to me.
All that is left now is to enjoy my life each day!
Lainee...when you coming up here girl?????

There are plenty of good things about being older.
Put on a good thick layer of make-up & you can trick em all what sex you are .... man? woman? man? woman???????
Do whatever you like cause you are over 40 - just because you can.
Act like a dick & who cares.
Put on your helmet to pull the skin back from your face & ride fast so it stays stretched taught.
Wot else ..... hmmmmm

I am lucky that way- I don't look 40- don't need the make-up or helmet to pull the skin back!
I'm sure that acting like a dick is within the realms of possibility though!

i can feel ur pain..i lost my dad when i was 21..he was 43 at the time... at the time u dont think much of it, but holding him while he took his last breaths and closed his eyes is umthin ill never forget...and strangely it helps with closure.... losing other family & freinds along the way hasnt been as "easy"... 3 funerals in the last 12 months didnt help...my pop in oct 05, my nan (who i lived with since i was 17 with- my dad lived there also) in march 06, and my wendy in Nov 06.... it teaches u to live every day like its ur last...and never take ANYTHING too seriously....

Yes, Neka- it teaches you a lot.
We have cancer absolutely rampant in our family- so much so that I avoid going to the doctor as I just don't want to know.
Live today like there is no tomorrow. Today may be a good day for another good hard blat to clear the cobwebs of '40- something.'
If I die on the bike ( or having good sex) I will be a happy girl!

Over 40's great. The kids have grown up, you've got more dough, cops don't hassle you as much, your careers sorted, the friends you've got are good ones because you've either known them a while or your older and wiser and you hang with people you want to. If you've been with the one partner for a while you're probably pretty happy otherwise you wouldn't still be there. I reckon it's great.

The best bit though you really are only as old as you feel and act. Riding bikes usually means you hang around with like minded individuals who come in all ages so you still kind of act like a youngster anyway.

Look forward to it, it's nothing to be scared of and no worse than any other age. Now that I'm almost closer to fifty then 40 I'll give you a report on 50 when I get there although I see it kinda the same perhaps with ahem "added medication"

Old dudes rule
I like what you said there Glen.
However coming out of a marraige after that long is awesome BM, and I cant even imagine it :? Tough stuff girl, more power to you after all that crap you went through!

It was the hand life dealt you and lead you to riding a kwakka so it worked out good in the end huh :D

I am another one turning 40 this year in june, there are 2 more that I know of, Mojo? Stu? We can have a huge 40 party  My body is broken badly enough to feel like 70 and I aint got time to stop and feel it.
I am still very much 30ish, has been the best age so far.
So we will see what 40 ish brings, hopefully much happyness and better medications 8) (red ones are the best)

Oh and an early happy birthday BlackMagic. new_birthday.gif

This appeared in a stock market traders forum but it deserves a place here:

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand - strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "HOLY S$%t - What a Ride!"

Cheers, v.
