Back to thread, talked to my Bike mech mate and he said he can just about gaurentee it was the battery Tanya... apparently (as prev post) the battery has to be fully charged to power the EFI
Either that or your PCIII connection is loose or has water in it.

Let us know eh? and did Alex ever finish the tune on it ? (if you can stop smiling at him long enough for him to concentrate  )

Yes, it isn't the power commander.

its disconnected and it still refuses to go, so it's def something electrical.
I have to drop the magical red key in tomorrow to see if that makes a difference (immobiliser)

got a call from mechanic today, no compression in 1 and 4, hardly any in 2 and 3.
he suspects valves
so being a possible warranty issue i had it picked up by the kawasaki dealer

Apparently they just sprayed lubricant into it and they freed up and now the bike goes..

Is that possible.. sounds dodgy to me.. and certainly doesn't explain why it would suddenly do that..

Tanya, sounds very dodgy to me too

Could have been a snapped cam chain even
But if it's under warranty .........shouldn't be your problem

Don't forget the dealer will not want to "worry" you and will often say the fix was easy to do...........doesn't want you thinking you bought a lemon, does he ?

I had to pay them... they didn't consider it warranty

The invoice says 4 plugs
$100 to pick bike up and make it start
$5 fuel (tank was full - assuming they drained it)
$20 to pick it up
+ workshop stuff
total $170

That blows.... :? Wonder how they returned you a bike with supposed low compression- either the valve clearances were out (missed in servicing) or the engine is REALLY worn. I'm guessing neither- probably didn't do the compression test correctly. Probably left the throttle shut while they did it.

Bonester... this is the first compression test it's had that I know, and it has 13,500km's.

My mechanic did it when it wouldn't go after he'd eliminated other possible issues.

It went to kawasaki after that, i don't know if they've compression tested it, either way it's going straight back to the other guy to have it done. The only reason it went to Kawasaki was warranty protection.. (I'm not dissing them as mechanics - I just really prefer the other guy)

Yappa I haven't dropped it yet :) But I think I might trade it anyway.. I'm over this bike, adn at this stage my next bike certainly will not be green.
