If your hit by a 2000kg landcruiser at 60 kmh you will be hurt more than if your hit by a 300kg bike at the same speed. Simple math says its so. In that instance you would be forced to deal with 6.67 times more kinetic energy.
Any vehicle is a power tool operated by levers to put kinetic energy to use. All power tools can cause harm. The operator is responsible for any harm they cause.
Zero or low tolerance speeding fines just create a pool of speedo watchers who are not looking at whats going on around them; making them more dangerous to others.
"No officer I wasn't speeding; but I surely did not see that child run out onto the road after their ball".
of course it does...cos if u werent moving, and a bike hit u, well if it wasnt moving...it wouldnt hit u and ud all be alive!!Duane wrote:falx wrote:No, release of kinetic energy into your body causes traumatic damage. People kill.Duane wrote:gayle,

As Neka said, speed is a factor in all accidents; because if nothing was moving there would be no accident. However in and of itself speed does not kill you. If it did we would all die horrible deaths in airplanes on transcontinental flights.Duane wrote:falx wrote:No, release of kinetic energy into your body causes traumatic damage. its the old chestnut of if they keep telling you something, then eventually your going to think "it must be true", gumbyments been saying it for years as an easy copout from 1) the "wont somebody think of the children" crowd, a.k.a. "mrs lovejoy" on the simpsons, 2) having to raise the standard in regards to licensing.frogzx12r wrote:If speed kills, even in accidents, i would have been dead a LONG LONG time ago. The old joke of its the sudden stop is SO true![]()
IF speed kills the NT would have a higher death toll
IF speed kills Europe would have a higher death toll
IF speed kills, how come all the race car drivers and MotoGp guys et al arent dead.
INAPPROPRIATE speed kills.
DONT beleive the government propaganda.
Next thing you will tell me the new IR laws are good for us too
WANKERS
Speed outside a school (for example) and I will be at the front of the lynch mob...
