Yep, it was around that price - they do command a lot of money for an *older* bike, so to speak.........but what a great rig

yes they were indeed......just bounce off the undercarriage/pegs/alternator/points cover !!! no worries

He sure does !! I rode his 96? model not long after he got it, it was mighty fast !! and that was stock - after all the mods I think that old barge was pushing out 140 or 150hp ???
I will *never* forget chasing him through Redcliffe in 1983, as he bounced a Z1300 off the pegs through every corner, leaving a trail of sparks like an angle-grinder behind him

Ahhh those were the days hey Gos!!! When you ran out of clearance........before you ran out of grip!!!!!

It made riding so much easier!!!!!

97 Goz

was pumping a bit more than that at the rear in the end, pity about its demise...shit happens. not so sure about the oldies running out of clearance before grip though
ZZR11 is an awesome "sports" bike, after a Z1300 anything is when used properly. mind you Z13 is pretty good at carving as well!
My current 94 D series is an old pig with 140,000k's without head coming off until now, (bent valves doing 3rd gear clutchies today). Cams are pitted and noisy but still work fine. most common prob with the ZZR11 is doing the no3 big end which had happened to my 97 (mainly from high speed wheelies) but fixed under warranty with 87'000k's on clock... ZZr mill is (if serviced well) good for a couple of hundred thou, have several mates with 96 mods from new that have done those figures and totally thrashed all their lives. ZZR will have a bit of oil burn like all kwakas when thrashed shitless but not aware of any other genuine common fault otherwise.. prob the most fun reliable and forgiving bike i've ever abused.
Set up right and ridden hard has no probs dusting off most things out there

would have no issue buying very high mileage one again 80k-100k plus no probs bullet proof suckers unless rev limiter does not work...hmmmm, dont use straight synthetic oil though but mineral /synthetic oil, they like it better! makes no diff if its early version of D series or last, other than a clock and diff paint almost zero difference in them.

Thanks for the feedback on the ZZR RedRoo. Good to hear a report re the longevity of the 1100.

they are carrying on the tradition of longevity established by the Z9 / Z1000 - having thrashed the living shit out of my old Z now for 20+ years, literally*hundreds* of burnouts , insane mileage (>400k) etc etc - and its only on its second set of pistons since 1980 !!!!!!
Remember - its Kawasaki
Heavy Industries

Mate
I can only tell you that the D model 11 was built in heaven.
They will do anything.
Mine even tried to be a lumberjack. I spat at it, swore at it, kicked it twice and it just started again on its own.
Great bike mate, the only common prob I have ever heard of is that No3 piston. Mine has done 80k and there is no sign of a problem. You may find that the cam chain tensioner doesn't keep the chain tight enuff, but there is a neat little fix for that.
Buy one and ride it like you stole it...

Tis true the bleeding thing came back to life before Ronster
