Still, the sweetest sound you can ever hear is that ambulance siren.

I waited for hours just to be seen about 6 weeks ago, the only solutions they had was to keep pumping me full of morphine and pethadine coz it keep me calm (I had some twisted internal organs - so no blood supply to the area I think the drugs were making it worse - my whole body was calm expect for the part dying)... Once the doctor finally got there to see me I was rushed straight into sugery so I was very lucky in that aspect...

unknown or life threatening..the triage team
will send you thru for immediate treatment
I'm living proof that the triage system is rubbish, as its primarily based on ONE persons opinion of your injury.
I was bleeding to death (literally) internally, and staggered into a not-very -busy Cas, to be "assessed" by the bored triage nurse and told there would be at least a half hour wait for a doctor, and being asked to fill out forms

. After repeatedly telling this idiot (who was reading a magazine) that I was going to pass out she rolled her eyes at me and directed me to a waiting room chair. I will be forever grateful that the doc happened to walk out just then.
I still smile when I recall her very loud and very public telling off of the triage nurse for her ineptitude while I was waiting for transport.
My eldest sister is an RN, and she was going to belt this woman
I had private cover, but noone asked me that until well after I got to Westmead, so its a moot point as to whether it will help you in Cas.
BTW Cowasaki, dont feel bad about being described as an MVA. It is the nature of a hospital to have different patients, same ailment, especially in high turnover areas like cas or day only.
Sorry, rant over. Triage discussions make me very p'd.[/quote]

I had a nasty car accident and was ambo'd to sunshine hospital - was seen promptly and well looked after i thought. Only thing i had to wait for was x-ray to be available they were flat out.
Private health insurance is worth it though - i had my tonsils out then about a year or so later my gald bladder and both times got to pick what day i went in. Whatever suited me best. Def worth paying for.

Translating this from lawyer-speak: "Geeze, this isn't a case of blindingly-obvious negligence on the part of the hospital or malpractice by any particular doctor. I'll have to do some real work on this one."
Just like you'd do with a doctor, when a lawyer gives you a non-committal answer, you should seek a second opinion.
