I'd recommend running 95 premium, it may just keep it a little cleaner inside and running good.
What about Shell 95RON? Reason I ask is that I am a tight arse and use the shop docket discount thingies

Shop at the other one and get their shopper docket thingies and go to BP

Hmmm, Safeway has discount dockets as well, not sure about BP.
Meh, so it seems either 91 or 95 octane are both fine, giddy up.

I found the Caltex 98 ultimate premium to be good and did notice it to be smother, as for the cost well it dosn't get ridden as much as it should so it never worried me.
Neka you are right Deisel is a lot harder to start but LPG is worse

Ran 2 tanks on 95ron through my zzr250 ('98 model with 90,000 on the clock) but if anything seemed to run a bit worse and as mentioned above had some issues with starting that i never had before or since

yep go the standard unleaded unless theres a sticker on your tank saying use 95ron fuel, I use mobile pulp first followed by bp or vortex which is the caltex stuff and give the opticrap a miss although i did get a tank of it once and the bike ran ok on it.
My bike is fuel injected and hopefully still high compression.
Would be wasting your money on the dear stuff on a 2fiddy.

as i said before, try the maths on the $/kilometre, you may or may not be surprised.

Well, I filled up with 91RON, and whilst riding etc is proving to feel virtually identical, starting/warming up the bike is a bit more difficult on 91RON (The weather has been warmer as well).
It seems to conk out if I move the choke after I start it up, then if I start it again it seems ok.

I have a 99 model ZZR250 thats just ticked over 34k. It only ever gets bp Ultimate*, and so far I havent had any issues.
*unless you're out in the country and cant get it, so you get the next highest octane.

I use ULP all the time, no problem, it runs better and better efficiency as the clock ticks.
before 6000 service it hits reserve at around 250km or something, can't remember and i wasn't sure if i fill it up to neck all the time. After that it hits reserve about 275km for a while
now it is getting 320km i still not yet switch to reserve, recently i fill it up full though, and my riding style is quite gentle.

I ran the Mower on Caltex Vortex and it grenaded.
Don't know if it was the fuel or the fact i use dirty sump oil and no servicing in the 8yrs i had it

So what is the general consensus about the best fuel for a GPX250?
I have a 1988 model which was complianced in 1995 and just had a engine rebuild (about 1500km since rebuild).
I was originally filling her up with the most expensive fuel (i.e. Shell V-Power) because I thought that was the best thing to do. However, I searched and found this thread and now I feel like an idiot for doing that.
So many different opinions, it is hard to decide. I am now filling with (what I think is known as) 95RON. It is the middle priced unleaded at Mobil. I am going to install a bike computer so I know exactly what mileage I am getting on what fuels to work out the most efficient.
However, if it works out that the regular unleaded 91RON has the best efficiency, should I run my bike with that and not worry about engine wear etc? I read on the ninfaq that any fuel above 87 is fine. Anything more is just wasting your money. However, I care more about engine wear than bang-for-buck fuel efficiency.
P.S. what is RON? What is the number? Is it the % of how pure the fuel is or something like that? Why is v-power bad?
