Have used Silkolene for years, usually semi synth as fully synth can affect a wet clutch. Never blown an engine, never killed a gearbox. Also swore by their products in the olde motoX days, from premix and gear oil to fork oil and chain lube (It was tops then too - although never smells as good as Casrtol R).

Hi all i just had a minor service and bmc filter installed on my 04 zx10r. I was recommended to use Q8 oil which was installed and the bike runs quiter and runs alot smoother.

Have used the Silkolene semi synth for a couple of years. cost me $45 for the last bottle i put in the gpx, but this new bottle for the rf cost me $59, which i told the shop i was very surprised about such a price hike. *mental note, buy oil elsewhere, despite them being the "local" at 5 mins drive from my door*.

Engine seems a bit quieter and smoother when i use the Silkolene, seems to last a fair while before starting to go a bit "off" as well, i went comfortably with 6-8k between changes on the GPX.

It Just went up Smitty, so all the retailers will be adjusting prices soon as stocks are renewed.

I bought a bottle of Motul 7100 for the 9 yesterday. it was horribly expensive at $55 a bottle. But I always prefer a better quality oil, as sometimes I may not change my oil for 8-10k depending on what I am doing, and a better quality oil, usually hangs in there a little longer. With NEO oil, i could change it every 12-15K without any detrimental effects. Not that I did it often, usually 10k is the longest interval I would go in an emergency. With the Motul 7100 however, it's being dropped at 5K intervals. :)

The best part I can supply it to you for $35 per 4L bottle RRP $55 which is just above cost..
