Okay, the damage to the bike ended up being $2,499. I guess paying the $400 excess is worth it eh....

Its happened to me 3 times now.... (gsxr, CBR and VFR have all been hit) its a bloody pain because you end up being without your bike for a few weeks .... Make sure you get an insurance quote from a company that can supply a temporary ride and make sure they factor that into the price (but dont include it in the quote)... most places will do that for you....

Being a courier in melbourne i see some pretty weird shit.
I'de be supprised it was the beemer rider, more like some pissed off predestrian. When i park on the footpath(which is nearly all the time),i try to park as close to the gutter as i can so as not to block off walking space.
Although having said that i still see dickheads tring to walk between my bike and the gutter, they have the whole fucking footpath to walk on and yet they have to squeeze between my bike and the gutter, why?????im fucked if i know??????

There are insurers who do provide this cover but you need to be mindful
of the following:
1. You need to lodge a claim & pay whatever your excess is.
2. You, yourself need to pay for hire vehicle first. You are then re-imbursed
the amount they agree to pay (as noted on your certificate of insurance)
once you produce receipts.
3. Insurers may have recommendations, but usually it will be your responsibility
to organise this.
4. Before taking this cover, find out about cost of this cover per annum & what
dollar amount you will be covered for if you were to hire a vehicle.
