Still haven't had any luck locating a carby ... looks like most of the wreckers are all talk and no game. Most won't tell me how many km's the carby has, what year bike it's off of, or won't offer any kind of replacement guarantee, or the price is absurd *and* still no guarantees blah blah blah.

Had one wrecker offer a 'reconditioned rear shock absorber' as well.... I'd love to see how they reco a totally sealed unit. Tools.

Still haven't called Metro tho ... definitely do that tomorrow.

oh yer a certain adelaidean wrecker already mentioned in this thread coughed up something that looked vaguely like it may have been attached to a motor at some stage for a very cheap price, offering no guarantee at all though. Wow - talk about a waste of time !

Possibly, hard to tell by looking at it isn't it ;) mine still runs, but it has bad ass leaks so it idles like poo and overruns odd ... all ZZR250 carbies will tend to do that after a while, so i gotta gets me a low km one. If they are going to give me one that also leaks i am basically swapping one piece of garbage carby for another.

munkees old zzr2fidy had lots of carby probs mostly caused by muck in the fuel tank getting through the filter, she used to pull it all apart clean it and put it together again till it clogged up again a couple of days later sometimes she would fix it by the side of the road to get it goin again.

sometimes on the 2fidies low engine compresion can seem like a carby problem you just cant get it to idle correct and it seems like its leeking you turn the idle screw up and it revs its head off then u turn it down and it stalls theres no in between fix the engine compresion and the carby runs good.

engine compression not likely to be a problem, but i might as well check it while i'm at all this. Having said that, the mechanic at Bolton's told me the same thing (that they either rev their heads off or they just about drop out) and it was caused by air leaks in the carburettor ... as I said, i will double check my dry/wet compression readings none the less.

yep a mechanic told us the same thing that it was air leaks so we got the carbs reconditioned didnt make any difference.
we scratched our heads heaps then did a compresion check only 90 we got a second hand barrel with piston and rings put it back together and it ran fine.
