seat hieght isnt always teh issue, need to look at seat width as this spreads the legs making the distance between inner thing and foot shorter.
i have heard of people lovwering the seat not only by lowering suspension but also getting the seat section cut down.
i know that my brothers zx6. 95 ,model doenst feel that much higer than my 250 as my knees seem bent the same amount and still flat footing on it.

They're pretty tall Diesel, a friend of mine sat on it who's similar to Colette's height and she could barely touch the ground. She was thinking about buying one but had to give the idea up

I'm 5'7 and i'm on the balls of my feet with it.

Maybe in this case that could be an advantage to you?

According to Stereo, the Z1000 and the ZX6R, and ZX6RR share the same seat height at 32.3" and the Z750 is a little lower at 32.1"

Hey Miss, a subject close to both our hearts

.
Having met you, and seeing you're a significant amount shorter than even me, may I make the following suggestions?
Cagiva or Cagiva Raptor 650 (Suzuki 650 v-twin) - Fairly expensive and apart from the engine/gearbox, can be a bit hit or miss in the quality department. The main trouble with this bike is actually finding one to try on for size, they are pretty rare as everyone opts for the Cagiva 1000 as mentioned above (which I can nearly flat-foot).
Honda CB600F4i - probably borderline in your case, pretty much so in mine. Nice looking bike though. You would need to ask yourself why you'd pick one over our ZZR600 though...
One of the
Ducati 620s. Nice bikes, pretty underpowered, the service costs a bit expensive and overpriced for what you get.
Kawasaki EF-6n. Lowered. It's too tall in standard trim (well, the one I tried was anyway). I may try a look at this one again, the one I sat one was new and I feel the person riding it had the suspension set pretty hard...
Maybe a
Z750/Z1000 with the same treatment. No hope in hell in standard setup.
An older
Suzuki SV650/SV650S. The new ones are too tall.
Yamaha FZ-6 or even a
FZ-1. Lowered (of course). I sat on a lowered FZ-1 once, pretty well could flat-foot the thing, but it
IS a Yamaha and it's pretty big...bigger than the ZZR.
Umm, not much else out these, unless you go the seat-sculpting in addition to the suspension tweaking route, but if you going to do that then anything is on the menu. You'll need to find a bike that has enough seat to sculpt though, not just a pad...

Colette specified she didn't want to compromise on performance, so they are out of the question

.
...and she didn't say she wanted to consider a two-wheeled truck

I know 3 ladies who are vertically challenged who own Cagiva's and they love them, it's why i suggested it
It's personal taste more than anything

Thanks Stereo and Ratmick, that ifo is really helpful!
Tanya, funny you mention the Cagiva - I actually considered it long before I looked at the ZZR600.
Guess I'll just have to try sitting on different makes amd models and see how I go.

What?
I'm not referring to the RR version BTW...
Seriously, if you going to upgrade why would you trade an older-technology 4-cylinder 600 for another (ok, not so) older-technology 4-cylinder 600? Especially if it doesn't fit like your old bike

.
...apart from the facts it's newer, shinier, fuel injected and has better brakes

.
...or were you objecting to the 'Nice looking bike' reference, and 'Honda' being in the same sentence?

Or in real measurements, Z1000 is 820mm high, and Z750 is 815 mm high. I am 170cm, or 5'7", and flatfoot on side, or are on the balls of my feet on both sides. One of the girls in my WIMA group had a Z750 and had it lowered, and sitting on it I was able to flatfoot both feet.
