BNE - suggest a ride destination for me please!

Post by rtyuiop »

Hi folks,

I'll hopefully have some free time over the weekend (hopefully have Monday or Friday off too), so I'm going to take the chance to go for a decent length ride. The various toy runs, while they would be fun, seem a bit too much stress for a complete newbie such as myself...

So can anyone suggest a good destination? Preferably somewhere with a good coffee shop and easy to get to from the southside. At the moment I'm thinking of heading out to the hinterland in behind Nerang (Purlingbrook Falls etc), but I can't remember if the roads are any good out there.

Any other good roads down the gold coast? A swim would be nice too...

Danny,

Head over Tambo then towards the Natural Arch (sorry i don't know the road names)... Okay run that you can do at your own pace... Good coffee shop at the Natural Arch.

Have fun 8)

Hmm... Thanks Dave, that could be a plan. Was out on Beenleigh-Beaudesert Rd up to Tamborine village the other day for work, noticed it was a pretty nice road. Shame the speed limit isn't higher  !

Do the run to Kenilworth via Mount Mee and Maleny, and come back via Obi Obi... you'll love it. If you don't know the way I might be interested in a run up that way myself... otherwise happy to give you some directions :)

The road up to Springbrook is plenty twisty, but the speed limit's only 60 and there's ALWAYS a lot of traffic. And it's pretty narrow.

There's a short bit between the road out to the Natural Arch and the Springbrook road that's always deserted. Lots of elevation changes, and only about 2 km of real turns.

Plenty of roads in the Gold Coast hinterland - just do a Brett (grab a tourist map and see if there's anything interesting on it).

There's a pretty easy run up Split Creek Rd - can get to it from Glorious or from the Brisbane Valley Highway. There's a little shop about 1/2 way along it. Probably a little further than the hinterland, and reportedly swarming with boys in blue ATM.

Go via Brisbane Valley Hwy to Splityard Ck Rd, turn left to Esk. Morning tea at Esk, the turn right towards Hampton, nice twisties in there, then turn left, at top of hill, head towards Toowoomba, turn left for Murphy's Ck, and come out at Gatton for lunch at Maccas.

Mate, the ToyRun this Sunday is only a 45km ride!

Anyhow....it's about time we go to Natural Arch for coffee again.

Thanks guys. I reckon I might just turn right off the freeway at Nerang and see where I end up.

RG, it's not the distance that worries me about the toy run, it's the hordes of bikes to distract me and for me to run into!

Dont do the road from nerang to Natural arch, they are resurfacing the road and doin the old "nah dont worry about hiring a steamroller to push the gravel into the bitumen, Let the cars do it" Lots of loose gravel as of 2 weeks ago. The road will be great once finished tho.

Then south to Liadley then head through Grandchester & turn left at Rosewood roundabout (real good bit) then right into Marburg which puts you back on the highway into Brissie.

Cheers Brett

Looking good for tomorrow at the moment Brett!

Well this weather sucks when I've got the day off!

Got down to Springwood Suzuki, then thought I could out to Wynnum and back for some fish and chips before it started raining... I was wrong!

Oh well, I now know my jacket is nice and waterproof, shame about the draggins and gloves.
