Yeh I am aware of the capacity limits for the class, but if the 600 is a dedicated *race* bike, then surely it would be faster around a track than its *road* based cousin ???? or does 36cc make that much difference ??
seems a bit strange ??

Ofcourse it makes a difference... You can get a 50cc bike to move pretty quickly... add that horsepower to a 600 and and you have to get more acceleration... it makes senseGosling1 wrote:Yeh I am aware of the capacity limits for the class, but if the 600 is a dedicated *race* bike, then surely it would be faster around a track than its *road* based cousin ???? or does 36cc make that much difference ??

Got to add the supersport race kit parts to make em go fast. That applies to all the supersport runners. Dial cams, reface valve seats, set up cams on degree wheel, weight match parts (basic blue printing) Loosen tolerances, change pipes and ignitions/maps, plus full Ohlins or equivelent race suspension ($2500 just for the fork kit aloneGosling1 wrote:why thank's Dan,Dan wrote:[... So what is faster afterall, a *stock* 636 ZX-R or a *stock* 600 ZX-RR ??? I always thought that the track-only specials *must* have been better, otherwise there would seem little point in releasing 2 models ??

thanks Strika - I guess then the answer to my question is that a *stock* 636 will be quicker around a track than a *stock* 600.
......hmmm, maybe I should try and get the shop hack 636 on the weekend, when I drop El Grande off for its 6k service........it couldn't hurt to actually flog one of these around the local scratchers paradise, then I can form 1/2 an opinion on them

Not really a good idea Gosling. You may fall in lust with it and trade in the dinosaur

Stereo, I think the 2001 ZX6R was a 600, not a 636 (mine certainly is). It was upped to the 636 for the 2002 model, from memory.StereoHead wrote:(although the 2001 636 equals my bike in acceleration, I didnt feel it was as good in the corners or braking)
IMO, if you're looking at the ZX6, the '02 and the '05 are the better examples in the last five or six years, depending on which seating position/style you're after.
Road: 2005 ZX10R - not named yet
Road: 2008 Z750 - Kwak
Track: 2006 ZX6R - Yoshi (with a very Genki undertail)

No offence taken Gosling. They fcukin are little. In motor capacity and physical size. They are tiny little fcukers now. I am 5'11" and a litttle more experienced in life than some, and I need an hour of stretching to fold my self up on any of the modern 600s

you know, one of the quickest riders up at Wakefield last weekend was a bloke from Queanbeyan, who was riding his Malvern Star to the shops when Queen Elizabeth was coronated
