Powercommanders...
Is there still a need for these to get as much out of your bike as possible? A few years ago all my gixxer mates got them ... Is there a benefit getting one for a 03 ZX6R?

hmmm... no reason not to, I considered one back when mine was new, one of the local dyno operators had a deal to fit the PCIII & micron can + dyno. I decided not to as the fuelling seems pretty good to me already and even if it gave me another 10hp would I notice ? probably not, for me the money is much better spent on rider training & for the 03 636 suspension tuning.
Cheers

Depends on how much money you've got and what else you've already changed.
If it's standard or just a road legal end-can then you won't get much benefit (just a smoother curve, not any more power).
On the other hand if you've fitted a full race system/race end-can and a free-flowing air-filter then you'd see a reasonable improvement.

I fitted a PCIIIusb on my 636 after fitting the Akrapovic slip on as it ran like crap down low on 98octane, I fitted the PC & ALL fixed & running fine.
I have since downloaded a Micron slip on map into it from the internet as I couldn't find an Akra slip on map.
I think it could do with a custom tune, But I live in the desert so not easily organised!

I am told it will improve throttle response quite a bit and give you a bit more mid range power, would need to get it custom mapped though and its not at the top of my bang for the buck list at the moment.
Do you still have all the polution stuff attached do the clean air mod its free and seems to make them run a bit better...bang for your buck.

If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

If you want to "get as much out of your bike as possible" then yeah. Standard maps have to be a little generic as they are for every bike off the line. No two engines are the same however, so to get the best out of yours the efi needs to be set up for your engine.

Real bravery is being afraid but doing it anyway.
