zx12r brake pads

Post by mick12 »

i have ferado brake pads in my zx12 they were supplied by my local kwaka dealer when they did my fork seals because the original ones were soaked in fork oil i dont really like them they they dont seem to have the stopping power of what was in there before they are noisy and seem to bind they are heavy with metal fleck what are you guys using and what are the results of using what you have i have cleaned the rotor bobbins and the pistons trying to get better stopping results so i am blameing the pads as the calipers are working even
If it aint broke don't fix it just gain more horsepower

may have found my problem firstly the jointing ports had a salt like shit blocking them which wouldnt allow full fluid flow then the piston seal grooves had corrosion in them which i think cause the seals to tighten up on the pistons not allowing them to back off properly causing the binding so doing a full brake service but would still like to know what pads people are using

Pads are very personal.
I have found that the stock nissin pads the be the best with the zx14 calipers.

But for the tokiko calipers I've used ferodo and thought they were shit.
Ebc extreme pro, amazinfg! But a race pad.
Ebc hh seem to be popular for the road.

Prob doesnt help you but the ZX6 Nissin radial pads on my ZX12 are great. Different part number to the ZX14 Nissin pads..

+1 for the stockers or the EBC HH's if the stockers are too crazy expensive.

When I did braided lines on my ZRX I went with ebc hh and combined they made the braking feel like a more modern setup.
I plan to do the same with the barge.
