thats a big call.........where would they be faster ??
in a straight line....depends on who's riding it.
round a corner......same again
as easy to ride as a zx9r "c" NEVER
I'm not bagging the ZX9, I loved mine but the current ZX6R probably isn't too far off the mark in performance. I haven't checked the power to weight stats but I'd imagine they're pretty close.
Having said that, in experienced hands, I'm sure the power and torque of the 9 would win out, but if you put someone upgrading on both bikes the current ZX6 would probably be as daunting a ride as the old 9
i know you wernt bagging the 9. in my opionion the zx9 c thru f series are the perfect road bike.
on a track its a no brainer that the new 6 would be quicker. in the real world - on real roads - the zx9's are about as quick (and as comfortable) as they get. the less you have to work the less tiring they are to ride.
that was my main reasoning behind my thoughts that the 9 is THE BEST ROAD BIKE EVER.
also - how fast i ride is not governed by how fast my bike is..........both my bike and i could go faster....but the boys in blue dont appreciate it (or do guys on zx10r criminals......eh brett )
The 04 zx6r took some sorting and I havnt tried a 05 but that said someone with more experiance than me and god knows i took it too a few could probably sort them in 20 minutes with a screwdriver and a couple of tools.
zzr600 sounds well worth a go as a allrounder though especially if you find your average ride day is getting over 400km as some of ours can, by the end of the day the 636 seat was designed too hang off not sit on and a flat sadlle would be a big bonus.
seraph the best way to find out is go and test them out and if you can get a go at someone elses try it as well and as glen said if you like the new six try a older 9 as well because all you would be trading is a heap of extra tourqe and ridabilty for screaming hp although i read that the 05 six is a bit more comfy than the 04 but i think the 9 may be more comfortable again.
Will have to have a go at a 9 sometime.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?
Absolutely no arguements re the 9 being the perfect roadbike. In most hands they will probably go around a track quicker than a stack of other fancied bikes as well.
I probably worded my initial comment poorly
My point was that from the perspective of someone looking to buy a current ZX6R they should take into account that the things are an absolute rocket and therefore possibly could get them into a shitload of strife, probably even moreso than a 9, due to the greater track bias of the 6R.
On another note. Just picked up the ZX10 after it's service. Talking to the bloke in the shop, two ZX10's have left their showroom in the last couple of weeks after being bought by people fresh off their P's. Both crashed within a very short time, notably one bought last Saturday and written off on Sunday with 280klm's on the clock, Oh and no insurance.
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

I haven't ridden a nine, but I have just put an Akra System and PCII (without a dyno map) on my 636 and mother of all that is crazy... what has this done to my bike
I honestly cannot believe the change in power. It just feels ridiculous for a 600(ish) bike. But I am very curious how it compares to a bigger capacity bike of an older vintage circa 01-02.
At this point is hard to imagine I will ever learn to ride this bike to its full potential.
So if anyone out there has an 05 636 and is thinking about the Akra System... stop thinking and start shopping.

carn phil, theyve touched a raw nerve??lol....
u guys just wait til u call the zx9r "overweight and underpowered" and see how he reacts.....lol..
ill never live that one down....hahaha
i wanna try a zzr out... they always get a good rap everytime i hear about 'em, but having said that, i reckon my little pearler is the BEST ROAD BIKE EVER!!! (all depends on what you want it for huh?!)
I think the ZZR6 is a good enough scoot (it dominated when it was originally released), but i would rather see them release the 02 zx6r Like in the US with a lower 790mm seat height to replace it as a serious competitor to the sv650/fzr6.
I'm sure a lot of current zzr6 guys would appeciate a lighter, more refined bike then what is available. Especially the shorter shorter riders & those stepping up from the 250ccs.
my 2c.
