To Z800 or not
To Z800 or not
Long story short guys. I'm looking at selling my zx6 and getting something upright and naked. What are your thoughts on the z800? I've ridden a z1000 but found it felt a bit big and top heavy for me. May be just that I wasn't used to it, but I don't know

Re: To Z800 or not
I think the 800 would be slower than the 600.
Is the 1000 much heavier than the 800?
The 1000 has alloy frame which makes it much lighter.

Re: To Z800 or not
On paper it makes more hp than the Zx6. Weight wise I think it's about the same as the thou, but it has a bigger tank than the thou= longer range. Considering I live in Darwin and the next "city" is 3hrs south, it would be nice to have a longer range

Power to weight will be better on the 600.
Completely understand the reasoning with the fuel economy.
What about Ninja1000. Bigger tank?
Or even versys 1000? If it's for touring.

The 600 is a fuel miser. So be prepared to use more on any bigger motor I would think?

Re: To Z800 or not
Not so sure about that... you'd be reving the 600 higher at similar speeds most of the time anyway so I wouldn't be surprised if fuel consumption is either on par or worse. Maybe if you drop a tooth or 2 on the rear sprocket it would be better but then again you really don't wanna do that on a 600.fireyrob wrote:The 600 is a fuel miser. It's not the track, 6th gear @ 110-120km/h 5-6000 rpm.EDU wrote:Not so sure about that... you'd be reving the 600 higher at similar speeds most of the time anyway so I wouldn't be surprised if fuel consumption is either on par or worse. It is a fuel miser on the road. Ive had both road and track. Yep it chews it on the track but cruising on the road my 10 would get 170-200 kms to the 6 getting 260-280 kms.

I know it aint green but without physically seeing the new Z1000 this would be my choice if I was thinking of changing from my 04 Z1000
Z800 wet weight 229KG/231KG ABS
04 Z1000 210 KG
14 Z1000 222 KG
MV 800 186 KG
That Z800 is carrying a lot of lead in comparison and was my major disappointment when I investigated it as a possible replacement that's as heavy as a ZRX without anywhere the midrange grunt, in this day and age no middleweight naked should be anywhere near that heavy IMO

If life is like a box of chocolates, why do I always get the laxettes?

I'd go the Aprilia shiver. I reckon they are an awesome little beasty and not stupidly priced

Re: To Z800 or not
According to the reviews the MV 800 appears to be the great now that they have sorted out the fueling, but the price 22k
.
You can pick up a tuono aprc for less, which appears to be the bench mark for italian nakedness.
