Tourist dies during horror weekend for riders

23may05
ONE man is dead and three others injured after a spate of motorcycle accidents yesterday.

1. A Japanese man died instantly yesterday when his motorcycle collided head-on with a utility on the Nerang-Beaudesert Rd near Canungra at about 10.30am.

Police said the man, aged 36, had been staying with a tour group on the Gold Coast. He was thrown from the motorcycle and hit a tree. The driver of the ute sustained no injuries.

2. Paramedics transported a middle-aged man from the Northbrooke Parkway near Mt Glorious after he came off his motorcycle.

The man sustained lower leg fractures and was taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital at about 11.50am.

3. Another motorcycle rider was taken to Gold Coast Hospital after an accident on Long Rd, Mt Tamborine, at about 2.30pm.

:( I passed the first accident on my way back from the Natural Arch :( The black spewi was extremely worse for wear and it looked like the guy had been heading towards Nerang when the ute cut across him to head up towards Mt Tamborine. I didn`t stop as there was plenty of help on the scene and ambo's were on their way. :(

Condolences to family and friends

Sounds like a normal weekend, I dont know how many riders have come unstuck on cedar flats ( the twisty bit over the back of mt glourious) but if the white crosses and grave with a helmet above it arent a clue then i dont know what is.

Nerang raceway is famous for the southerers and tambo is a goat track i think they leave all the bumps in that road as trafic calming  .

Way better to do these things midweek less tourists that way and goto the track weekends to get it out of the system. :D :D :D
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

Condolences.

There was another accident up at MtG on Sunday, an R6 rider highsided and broke some ribs. A bad weekend. :(

My guess would be no where near as many as actually on the mountain. Whilst you go alot faster on Cedar, its alot more open and safer, and plenty of sun means its always dry.

The mountain is a hell of a lot more blind, steep, dangerous and unpredictable though.
