Why? Well the old Magna was using at least a tank a week @ 68 litres a go.
The Focus does at least 800km/tank in winter (summer more - around 850km) on 53 litres and for a diesel goes really well, nearly as well as the 3.5l Magna. Funny enough I blew a tyre last week and had to drive down the freeway at 80km/h on a space-saver spare and found if you were willing to drive in 5th at 80km/h (and I'm not) you could do nearly 1600km/tank as it was showing 3.4l/100km all the way down to the nearest big town. That's better than a hybrid and actually better than my Hornet

The missus has a 2011 Ford Fiesta TDCi (1.6 litre turbo-diesel/5-sp manual). Smaller tank so doesn't go quite as far, but also goes really well. Only odd thing is that I feel like I'm sitting in a roller skate when I'm driving it. Better economy, offset by the smaller engine revving a bit harder...overall not much difference, around 6.0l/100km.
Good having manuals as it means #1 son won't ask to drive them as he got his license in an auto
