Brakes gone or brake fluid- minor incident.

Post by TyM2Go »

Hey guys,
just wondering what's the problem.

Issue,
2 days ago i went into a mormon's missionary vehicle at 20-30k's (was doing 55k's). I wasn't speeding. It took longer to stop then usual as oppose to the 10 -15 meters. My brakes were fine up until just that point, as i squeezed the lever to the point to lock the wheel, all i managed to do was a moving stoppie, while still doing about 20k's. The bike only stopped because it hit the car and bounced back like a rubber band effect. I check my brake fluid every 2-3 days. It was fine on the wednesday. Checked it after the incident, the next day and there was nothing there. Essentially my front break fluid looks like its empty, and the back is now on lower.

Relavent info,
Bike was serviced at 6.1k kms, was told 60% left on the front 40% on the back (at the time was using a lot more rear brake.) Since then riding style has gotten more aggressive, thanks to the new exhaust  Sitting at 7.2km's
rear brake stops the bike much quicker then the front, unless i squeeze it trying to lock up the front wheel. All it does is make some real loud metal grinding sound but it does stop it,
Checked the brake pads, front has 2-3 mm left, back has 3-4 mm left.
brake fluid rear at low, brake fluid front, nothing in the clear plastic screen.

Damage,
a minor scratch on the front fender,
a minor scratch under the nose fairing,
the clips on the inside (nose fairing and the instrument cluster connecting points, the black plastic bit) have snapped on one side in 2 places.
a bruised stomach, but i'll live.

I've seen some video's and planning to do a diy job if possible. Though i am a bit concerned, since i don't quiet understand how to bleed the brake line. Any tips?
Also how hard would it be to replace the brake pads my self?, If it seems complicated i might just take it back to glen and get that sorted out, Would something like this cost the same as a regular service?.

I'd like to get some experience on it so really hoping for a DIY job

Pro's of the situation,
The mormon was a hot chick. "sister" i should say,
She used to ride a kawi back in the states ( yea shes americanooooo)
There was no damage to the car apart from a little paint transfer for my bike. (but im still skeptical people these days want to get your money over the most
Given up on the whole " I will not crash again". Already accepted shit happen's just need to take it on the chin and learn from it.
My bike didn't get damage to bad.
Luckily this did not happen at high speed's or i would have been fucked big time.

Con's of the situation,
within the first 3 minutes of pulling over, she was trying to convert me.
She is technically a sister soooo... a lil humpy pumpy is out of the question
My dog was going up her skirt and her companion's skirt. Yes i have a pervy dog.

Looking forward to the helpful tips. :kuda:

1. Go do a tafe course on DYI bike maintance.
2. Go do rider training, before you do serious damage to yourself.
3. Mormon chick, see below.

Did the dog drop the sticks he/she were carrying in front of you prior to the incident?

Yea, Wasn't riding like a tool. I couldnt go into the middle lane as there were cars doing 60-70. Couldnt go to the right as that was on coming traffic. I was in the right lane to turn right.
Your option 1 wasn't saracasm right  Cause i am a gullable fucker
If it does exist. I will look into it.
As for the riding training funds are kind of tight at the moment, invested in other things.

1st thing to do is top up fluid reservoirs and bleed the suckers!! Now take it for a gentle ride ,and the gentle part means gentle, and see how they are then.
