Re: powercommander from the US?
My mechanic actually suggested itd be a cheaper way to do it and dynotuned it after I installed it myself. Can they tell if its a US one or one you bought locally?
If you can wait for a custom map the maps online are ok for a starter.

Re: powercommander from the US?
I thought there was some way that Serco (the importer) could tell if a PC was a locally-soured jobbie or not - but only if you had your bike dynoed on a machine that hooked up directly to Serco ? One of the local shops that used to be here - had a dyno that hooked up directly to the Serco database in Brisbane - at least that is what the dyno boys there told me.
I have NFI if there was any truth in this - but I reckon if you took your bike to somewhere like Tex's dyno in Minchinbury - he wouldn't give a flying fuck where the PC came from, he would be happy to dyno your bike and map it properly as it is just another job through the workshop.....

Might be true for many past models. The electronics on the ZX10R seem to have a US version and an Australian/European version and it seems you need to be sure if you buy one in the US it is Aust spec. Alternatively you're prepared to pay $$$ to the tuner as they say they always seem to be trouble.
