05 ZX6R BARS
Quick queston.
girlfriend has been complaining a little about sore wrists ect after riding, I know about the helli bars, but has anyone changed them(higher) and what did they use? and has anyone tried the helli bars?
One option i have is to modify the standard ones, but would be a bit of work cutting and welding them again. and i couldnt be botherd, unless i have to!!!
They only need to be raised about a inch i reckon.
She has been talking about selling it because of that, maybe a SV650, she took a friends for a ride, and liked, but really doest want to sell her blinged zx6, and i dont either, cause i kno the bike well, and its a good one.
Cheers

Re: 05 ZX6R BARS
You should have checked out the Woodcraft riser clip-ons on my trackie when we were down at PI. I went overboard and got 2.5 inch risers and then had to drop them about an inch as they were too high. Here's a link for the one inch risers http://www.woodcraft-cfm.com/cgi-bin/co ... &key=12-15
Leanne has Apex risers on her road bike which is a 2010 ZX10 and it has made a huge difference in riding comfort for her. They are about an inch and a quarter higher than standard.

So with the inch and a quarter, i take it everything still fits? cables ect? and most important, did it or does it hit on the bodywork anywhere on lock to lock?
She does love the 6 but she goes riding with some female friends that dont go up in the hills much, they cruise to willytown for coffee, that sort of thing, a lot of her riding is in traffic, which is whats giving her grief.

Re: 05 ZX6R BARS
I ran my clutch cable through a different way and swapped to Nissin calipers at the same time which have the brake line attachment higher so there was no need to change anything on mine. On Leanne's 10 we had to fit a longer clutch cable and brake lines. I had to trim my fairing a bee's dick to clear the brake reservoir, but everything just fitted under Leanne's screen ok so it all depends on the bike. Your best bet is to have a good look at her bike and take a few measurements and then go from there.born green wrote:Cheers nelso, will have a look.Nelso wrote:You should have checked out the Woodcraft riser clip-ons on my trackie when we were down at PI. Re: 05 ZX6R BARS
You can buy a riser kit which doesn't require changing the cables and hoses. Just google it up and they will pop up. that's what I did when I looked at them. FFS, tell her not to sell that bike. It's one bike I really regret selling. That and the ZX9, Oh and the FZR1000 oh... and the GSXR1100,.....and the GPX750 and even the Z250B.....I could go on..... but the one I regret selling the most is the 05 636. It was a peach!
