05 06 ZX6R Gearing
G'day all
I Want to order a chain and sprocket kit for an 05 zx6r.
Does any one know the best gearing to use on this model at Eastern Creek.
Standard gearing is 15~43.
Should I just drop one on the front and run the 43 rear
Or should I go up 1or2 on the back aswell as running the 14 front.
Had a zx7r and dropping 1 on the front was fine for Eastern Creek.
For Wakefield I used to just go up 2 on the back and leave the front.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
I don't want to order the kit and find out I've bought the wrong gearing.
Cheers

May be to much? Girlfriends 636 was running about that( street bike)zxsixr03 wrote:-1 + 2 on mine for the creek and will find out what its like at PI in 2 weeks
But to me it was reving way to much at speed. changed it to standard, less one one the front, way better, and shes really happy with it now.
Pulls better, and seems to have more grunt with that.
Thats a street bike tho.
Remember P/I is a high speed track.

Re: 05 06 ZX6R Gearing
Thanks for your thoughts.
I'm guessing it would give you good drive off the turns but how does it go down the straight are you using all of top gear?
Thought about ordering this combo and if it was too short for the Creek perhaps I could use it for Wakefield
However I really did want to get the gearing right for the Creek first.
Cheers
Does this combo work well at the Creek.?zxsixr03 wrote:-1 + 2 on mine for the creek and will find out what its like at PI in 2 weeks

I am thinking maybe I should do something with sprockets on my bike also (2010 zx6r).
I've just started doing track days mainly at broadford where top end speed is probably not required for me at this stage. What would be best setup to go with?

Re: 05 06 ZX6R Gearing
I've ordered chain and sprocket kit 14~43
Just dropping one on the front and I'll see how that goes.
I'm also going to get a 44 and 45 rear just in case..If not needed for longer tracks I can use them at shorter tracks like Wakefield etc.
Going down 1 tooth on the front is equivalent to going up 2-3 teeth on the rear.
If you just go down 1 on the front you can pretty much leave the front alone and just play around with different size rear sprockets...much easier than changing the front all the time.
Hope this helps

I reckon just dropping 1 tooth on the front for a start and get a couple of bigger rear sprockets than your standard as I'm doing..I think you will have to go up on the back aswell being a shorter track..I'm sure someone here has done the hard work trying different gearing and can offer you the best setting for your model bike and at that track2010zx6r wrote:I am thinking maybe I should do something with sprockets on my bike also (2010 zx6r).
